John was an awesome guy talked w him a bit years ago and he was happy to give me info. When I built my turbo car I used a lot of his info to build it. My turbo car hooks in gravel!
I poured over every picture or video of that car I could find ! When I first started racing 69 birds which was 1987 he was” the man” in my opinion when it came to fast 69 birds. Car was so clean and so well built (as they would have said in the 70s it was SUPER SANO
I wanted to know everything about it because it just seemed like it worked all the time. Angeles & Mc Carthy did as much for pontiac racing as anyone in my opinion. That was the pontiac racers Bible for many years. If I went to buy parts that book was with me. Must have read both of those cover to cover 100 times and looked back at it for any obscure info I’d remember..
That blue 69 was just a gorgeous piece of art, wielded with precision like a knights sword just destroying everything that got in its way .

He will be missed , prayers for him and his family

Heard of Angeles since the early 80's in so many writeups. Never met him. My condolences to their family.

RIP John Angeles. Although never met in person, his willingness to share hard won knowledge and his experiences well documented will live on. An inspiration to several generations of Pontiac faithful. Condolences to his family.

Met John when I was with Tom at Donut Derlicks a few years ago. Nice guy easy to talk to about Pontiacs-we talked single pattern cams for RAIV motors!

That Post 13 book with HO Racing techno equations kept me busy in the 80s.

I have not kept up with much of ANY drag racing in last few years.
I know John's daughter Cari (correct spelling?) Was racing his car at NHRA events. I just wonder how recently the car was raced?
