I had mine out the other night (about 65 miles round trip - beautiful evening, but only 42 degrees). When moving, I had to turn the heat down because it got too hot. Sitting still I was shivering. Maybe I'll hook that fan up this winter. Yeah right

My father in law hauled my GTO up here thursday. We have had some really nasty cold weather here so 65 degrees in central Miss on wedsday felt great! It was 61 when we left a 6am but the warm weather only lasted until Memphis. There was freezing rain here waiting on us when we got close. The roads were clear until the last 25 miles when we truned off I 55,still some slush but no probles getting home.Lots of people off in the ditches.
My car is a little dirty and one of the upper parts of the windshield moulding came loose.

I finally found a nice 2 speed console from a member here. The Pot metal has very little in the way of pitting. The only problem is a couple small cracks to the hole where the lid attaches, so I need to fix and/or reenforce the area.I will start a thread on the console and get you ideas.

Easy fix.

Make you an aluminum piece for back up strength and glass or glue it in place.

Do you think the glass would stick better?

Probably would, especially if you scuff up both before. You could put the mat cloth in there for added strength.

Isn't that for console lids that are broke off?

I'd just make that piece like Charles suggested and glue it underneath the cracks with JB Weld. Clamp it for a couple of days and you'll be good to go.
Make the piece long enough to extend several inches in each direction from the screwhole...that'll give it plenty of lateral support.

There is a metal brace that goes to the lid holes to back console light attaches to.

I believe it's for holding the lid hinge to the console if that console section breaks. Call them and ask, it won't hurt and will give you a choice.

PM me and I'll give you Mike Spizziri's number.

Yep. I used plastic epoxy on the reinforcement piece. Liquid nails in the cracks.

I cleaned up the plastic part of the console and the cracks came from the sides of the holes not where the reenforcement metal sits. Thanks for the advise!

Well I just started my beast up today and ran it for 10 minutes in the garage. It's the first time I have let it run in months.

I really got burned out on the car when I lived in Mississippi, work 4am to 1pm and work on the car from 2-3pm until 8-9 pm 6 days a week

I didn't realize that it has been almost a year since your last post. And, my car is still not painted!

Yes he does. He just won't tell me what it is! I am going to see him Saturday and I will post the results in my Sunday thread.
