I got the frame stripped and ready to go to the powder coater. I guess I'll call this the end of phase one. I will start a new thread when I move into phase 2. Thanks for all the interest and help. Stay tuned.

Not really. Think of all those hours in reconditioning the parts you just removed from that frame.

Gee, thanks for reminding me! . I figured I would call that phase 2. Phase 3 would be reassembly.

Very nice work - you've earned a bookmark in "my favorites".

Are you gonna get that frame checked for spec while it's out from the car? Also, I'm assuming you've found the assembly manual by now?

The car was really straight and sat up good when I bought it so, no, I am not going to have it checked. I appreciate your asking and may change my mind. Could any body shop check it? As for the assembly manual, as long as I have these forums available I don't need no stinkin manual!

Tha frame is at the powder coaters and the tranny is in the shop being rebuilt. Things are moving along nicely. I hope to start cleaning and painting the motor this week, weather permitting.
Again, thanks for the help and advice.

Depending on where you are there may be a shop that specializes in frame and alignment work - maybe ask a body shop as they would know. If nothing else the manual lists specs for measuring from point to point and this might be good enough? It's just that you have it right there in front of you in case you wanted to do it. If you can't do it, I wouldn't worry about it if it sits nicely and there's no reason to suspect anything. I'll look through my manual and see if I can find anything on the specs for you.

Blue,
I was given an estimate of $400 for the frame and another $200 for the attachments(a-frames, motor mounts, trans crossmember, coil springs and bumper brackets) 21 pieces. I completely dis-assembled the frame before taking it to them. They are going to media blast all parts before powder coating.
I felt that was a fair price.

I started grinding the bondo out of the passenger rear quarter today. Do youthink this panel can be saved? It looks like someone used a ballpeen hammer to beat it out.

Got my transmission back today. other than the purchase price, this is the first real money I have spent. I asked the owner of the shop if he knew where I could get the kickdown switch that mounts on the gas pedal rod. He went to the back, came out a few minutes later and handed me one.
He said to try it and if it works he'll take $10.00 for it. I told him it may be a year before I know. He said to bring the car in then and he would test and adjust the tranny.

WELL,Id like to drive it to norwalk this year in august.but Im just goin to chug along and when its done its done.I find building them more fun than driving them.My advice someone gave me is to just not let it die.work on it everyday if you can.Of coarse take a break from it but the piont is do something just a little something everyday to keep it goin foward.I took the car off the frame labor day weekend 06 had the frame togather with rebuilt motor tranny and rear around the first month of 07.All work done be me and for the most part Ed a friend of mine.It took from feb to the next sept to get the body back from bodyman .Im at painter now and working on getting the interior ,wiring, trim ready to go.Ive owned my car since june of 76 my senior year of high school.Once you do one off the frame you wander why you didnt do it before its much easier and more detailed.I want to make it very restored but not to over restored if you know what i mean.If i can be of any help let me know Thanks

I was thinking how I could make this thread more interesting, so, If you would like I will post a running tally of the cost involved as well as the man hours. I will keep the purchase price to myself.
You will have to promise not to get upset if I have outbid you on any E-bay items.

I wnt by the powder coaters today. My frame was still in the oven but it was finished so I got a peek at it.
I will pick it up tomorrow.
I have to work Friday thru Tuesday (except Sunday) and then it's off to the Moultrie swap meet until next Sunday so, I probably won't get anything done.
Hope to pick up some parts I need and then I will start putting the frame back together.

Got the frame back today. I had it and 21 smaller parts done. $600 for everything. It started raining when I loaded the frame so I didn't get any more pics.
Can't wait for the swap meet so I can get what I need. The resto will probably slow down a good bit cause I have to wait on an opening at the body shop.
I still have plenty to do repainting some parts and cleaning up others. I will be bugging you all about colors and other details in the coming weeks so Thanks in advance for all the help.

Thought I would post a quick update. I went to the Moultrie Swap meet last weekend and bought my front disc brake conversion kit and about $120 worth of detail paints. Work is really going strong right now so I can't do a lot to the car.
Oh, I also bought a rotiserrie at the swap meet. Hope to get the body on it this weekend.
I also got some leads on various parts that I will be needing and will be following up on them in the next week or two.
I am waiting on the front end rebuild kit I won on e-bay to get here so I can start putting the frame back together.
That's about it for now.
