Right now I am kind of a standstill. Work has really picked up. I am getting the parts I need ordered and hope to start the frame rebuild soon.
So far, I have spent the following amounts:
Tranny rebuild: $571.00
Front end rebuild kit from PST( W/ body mounts) $452.00
Powder coating frame and frame parts $600.00
misc. detail spray paints $110.00
--------
$1733.00

I also bought a rotisserie and door brace system at the Moultrie
swap meet $1460.70
--------
$3193.70

I have 103 man hours invested. Since I have done 99% of the work myself I don't know what rate to put down, so, for the sake of argument I will say $20.00 an hour. That comes to $2060.00
So, to date, I have a total of $5253.70 invested.

I forgot to add the front disc brake conversion kit. $450.00 does not include master or booster. That brings the total to $5703.70.
Here are some pics of the rotisserie. I have it hooked to the body but have not lifted it off the wood supports yet. I am waiting on the door bracing system to arrive.

"Maybe your work will slow down enough you can devot some more time soon."

If my work slows down I won't have the money to get what I need for the car. I hope to get about 3 or 4 weeks in before the next downtime. By then it will be warming up enough to get the body out and start stripping it.

I shoud have used one of those rotisserie's, it would have made things a lot less complicated. My friends backs would have apreciated it as well.

I got the exhaust manifolds, brake drums and rear end painted today. 5 hours labor. Brings labor total to 108 and total cost to $5803.70
That's a good looking shop you have there 1970gpsj4speed.

I bought mine at the Moultrie swap meet. They came from Accessible Systems, Inc.

Funny thing is that I pulled my 66 convert off the frame and never used the braces. The body didn't budge a bit. I supported the body on the pinch welds with some stands that I made. Maybe supporting from the front and the back instead of the pinch welds is more stressful??? I was pretty lucky, not a rust hole in the whole underside of the car. The massive rear main oil leak preserved the body well.

Wow! A week has passed and I have done very little to the car. 4 hours labor to remove the doors, install the braces and lift the body off the temporary braces.
Another 3 hours cleaning some brackets and the rear control arms for paint.
That brings labor to 115 hours and total cost to $5943.70.
This is really a slow time for me. There are several parts I need to clean and paint and some I need to order new. work is keeping me from doing a lot but it also gives me the money to buy what I need.

Another week goes by and the car sits. I am waiting on parts so I can start putting the frame back together.
We had really lousy weather but I did manage to get some small parts painted and the freeze plugs pulled out of the motor.
For the next several weeks I will probably be pretty busy. We have 3 jobs to do. Finish up one and start two. One is a small job but the other is about 6,000 sq. ft. So we will be trimming in it for a while.
Hopefully, some of the parts I ordered will come in soon and I can get something done.

Ok. I got a little done this week. Got the rear control arm bushings installed, polished a few pieces of stainless, put new freeze plugs in the motor and started stripping the paint off the body. Labor was 9 1/2 hours. I also bought some parts. Assorted A/C componets:$222, freeze plug kit and assorted gaskets and oil pan bolts: $39.17, PST rear control arm bushings and trans mount: $134, and misc supplies: $40.
That brings labor to 124 1/2 hours and total to $6568.87.
Think I'll get it back on the road for less the $1,000,000?

I removed the windshield Friday. I found the best way to do it. As gently as you can, pick up a large hammer and give it one good whack! That way you don't have to worry about breaking it! I have some minor rust in the windshield channel. Haven't decided whether to repair or replace the lower section.
I also worked on the tail panel stripping paint. This is the slowdown phase of the project. Income tax time plus car insurance plus some medical bills for the wife have cut into the budget.
We start a new house next Wednesday so I should be back on track in a few weeks.
I also bought a power steering bracket from a PYer. Five hours labor brings the total up to 129 1/2 hours = $2590
Parts + $25 = $4103.87
Total = $6693.87

At least you are making SOME progress. My helper has been on overtime for the past two weeks, so no time for me. I've got NOTHING done. Wait, I do have some parts soaking in paint thinner to remove some built up paint! He is supposed to be here tomorrow morning, we'll see. BTW, 65 and 67 PS parts are different aren't they? I may have a COMPLETE 65 PS setup for sale a little later.

I had everything for the power steering except an unbroken bracket. Now, I'm good to go.

Nothing to report this week. Worked all week and took the weekend off. Drove a new BMW Z-4 to Savannah yesterday and rode back on a charter bus. Took it easy and enjoyed today.

We finally started dis-assembling my 66 GTO. My Question is the rust you found around the windshield drivers post, once the windshield is out do you only need to remove 2 phillips screws at the base to pull this off?Thats the only screws I see.

Keep us up on the progress, really enjoying it!
