Jumped back on my car again.
Just set the body on the frame. Used new body mounts. I can now concentrate on installing all the A/C, new glass, vinyl top and dash.

Progress, I love it!! I was wondering, while looking at the previous photos early on in the
restoration, the markings I see, in paint, not the paper tags, did you just copy what was visible after cleaning? Or, someone give you suggestions? I am a detail guy, too. Just curious as to the source. Great job so far!! Larry Banks

Wow it's got to be the lighting, it sure fooled me. LOL That Silverglaze Metallic looks great. You don't see too many silver 67 GTOs around. Last time I saw a silver GTO it was a 66, and that was back in 1969 at the college I went to.

Do you still need a WA Qjet tag? I gave away the bowl it came on but kept the tag. Not sure if that's what you meant by needing a WA tag. It's Rochester brand, dated D7. It lost its blue color though, so would need to be re-anodized.

Grrrrt! Thread (pun intended)

I believe the rear swaybar was not an option on the earlier A-bodies. Maybe for Oldsmobile but not Pontiac. Also the lower rear control arms would not be boxed.

It does help with handling but its not correct.

Don,
You are 100% correct
I have a few things I have done to the car thats not original but did so anyway just for better handling and driving.
The sway bar is from a later Pontiac. I also have a Trans am steering box and front sway bar too. I rather it handle best it can and lose judging points.
I welcome all criticism from others too..I like hearing feedback how my restoration can be better

I believe that this is the power steering cap you were looking for:

I bought one from this place last month and really like it.

Thanks Chuck,
I already bought the correct P/S cap, the correct breather with the dimples too.

I now have the car on the frame, Factort A/C installed and working on the firewall and dash board and instruments.

Looking GOOD!!

If I might make a suggestion. Put something over the top of the carb so nothing falls down inside.

Beautiful job. I know how much work this can be and the expense is significant to "do it right"!

I have a comment regarding the installation of the limited slip tag. It is on correct bolt; however, the tag appears to be installed incorrectly - as are most. Tag should be installed at angle (about 45 degrees following contour of diff cover with tag extending up to the right), text on tag should face the front of the car, tag is bent back over the bolt to ensure that the tag could be read and that anyone changing the cover would need to see/move the tag in order to change fluid. This was done to greatly increase the likelihood that the proper additive was included in the refill.

I have two 67 factory original differentials, both with tags affixed as described above. Neither shows signs of having ever been taken off. Tags had only 1 imprint from the bolt in the aluminum, no scraping aside from the bolt as originally tightened.

Also, if my memory serves me correctly, the diff should be painted - not completely, but on the back/underside. I'll have to check my pictures at home to be certain, however.

RDR, what is your package tray like if it's an original? Does it have a metal 'screen' on it, or is it plastic like the reproductions?

Eric,
Thanks for the compliment.
I also need to thank Andre. I bought a few original parts form him to keep the resto going.
He has very nice original parts that are faily priced too.

68gto,
You are correct on both issues. I recently found the same info concerning the posi tag on the rear diff and i will fix that.
The rear axles were assembled and unpainted on the assembly line but once the car was completed they reach under the car and sprayed everything satin black.
After all the work I have done to restore the car I just can paint it black overspray like the factory did. I guess I will just have an over restored car.

The only package tray material I ever had on my original GTO was black cardboard with a vinyl trim that was tucked behind the read seat.
