Sign me up for a '66 drop top. 4bbl auto is fine. Color combo is unimportant. I might as well keep the economy going...
If no '66, then a '65 in the same combo will do. |

Well, that is 2 cars sold without a whole lot of information. Anyone else interested? 3 more cars sold, and he can restore one immediately.

Just think of what we have here. Someone 30 years ago someone had a passion for 65, 66 and 67 GTO's. He purchased them and stored them in a nice pole building, probably about $60,000 in todays dollars. He must have had the foresight to see that it was a good investment. Hats off to him.
Someone today could do the same but it takes a lot of initiative and most of us aren't willing to do that or don't have enough time left. Again, hats off to those who do that. |

Another option for an auction would be to have your bank do the clerking for the auction. That way the money is handled by someone you know and trust. If the auctioneer won't agree to a third party handling the money it maybe better not to use them.

Ya know how you read about these "incredible finds" of exotic cars, locked away and discovered years later? And they open the barn door, and find it full of Citroens, and Damliers, and 1940's Mercedes? I was always somewhat disappointed in those, because I always secretly wanted the barn to be full of.... ....26 GTOs....

So did the value of the previosly known convertables go up or down with these "found" cars joining the general population. If they join the general population.

30 GTOs
Oh boy that "Tomb" photo stirrs the blood.... Once you get the PHS papers maybe post a list of the cars you have so we can get a grasp of what your collection looks like. Something like my signature.
Year, Model, Trans, PHS color combo, maybe some key options.... Would be a very neat list, plus you will probably want the list for yourself so you can decide what cars to keep, and what cars would be valued higher. I have all my inventory on an Excel spreadsheet so I can calculate total collection value along with other data. Hopefully the sheet metal has fared well inside the steel structure. Last sugggestion is to sell the '70 Cougar first for sure. |

I'm in at fair market value. With fully restored cars going for low $20's and very nice drivers for $15K, I would guess that most of these are solid #4 cars.
At minimum needing engine overhaul, tranny service, hoses, belts, new brakes, tires, transmission work and gas tank to become road ready. Do the value of all the other GTOs in existence go down? Absolutely not. These cars are a tiny drop in the bucket. Even if they didn't need complete restoration, they don't affect the prices at all. Today the prices of "garden variety" cars are affected most by lower demand, and significantly higher supply than 20 or even 10 years ago. I don't think there is a car in the lcollection that isn't going to take $20G to get it to the level I am accustomed to. |

Please, tell me where I can purchase fully restored cars for low 20s. I will gladly purchase another 28 cars. I have not seen those cars.

Wow... If you had said, "I know a guy that has been collecting GTOs and has a barn full of 26 of them." I would have laughed and bet money it was an urban legend.

Yeah, fully restored cars are selling in the low 20's. Sellers are asking alot more, but that is the price range they are selling at. Documente Ram Air cars, tripower cars, and ultra rare cars command top dollar, but thats about it.
It isn't 2004 anymore. Here is my body off matching numbers '64. Not a spec of rust on the car, and never has been. Everything works 19k miles on the 1995 restoration. $24K drive it home. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...ddc4b94&type=1 It would take me over $30K to build that car today. |

Here is my blue '64 convertible. Numbers don't match 64000 original miles. I couldn't get a bite on it at $22k. Orginal interior, no rust, one paint job, everything works including the tilt Needs a repaint
I'm not in the ghettoe either... https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...5a6d615&type=1 Later I will post pics of my '71 hardtop that I did sell ($12,500) and my '69 hardtop that sold at 18,500, but both of those were 4 years ago or more. Both cars could be driven to Washington state and had working a/c. The green car had won a trophy 50% of the time it was out. I have a friend trying to sell a semi-survivor '67. 62,000 miles. Original down to the water pump. He won't get off his $35K price tag for the last 2 years. He might be able to move it at 18-20k. Last edited by Andre; 09-09-2011 at 03:42 PM. |
