He doesn't mention the Rallye wheels but I suspect they were added and something was done to the springs to change the stance, but I agree it's a good looking car. I'd be tempted to put the 283 back in if I were to buy it.

Agreed also. That's a nice Chevelle and he does say he kept all the original parts including the born with engine.

That is a really nice looking LeMans. Well taken care of from what the photos show.

More than very reasonable. The 326 was a very good engine. My Tempest Custom gave me around 25mpg running back and froth to Rochester, NY from Massena. If I absolutely had to I'd even put a 326 with a 4bbl in my GTO. And unless someone new the engine code, they'd never know the difference.

I absolutely love the 326 ... all performance considerations aside, it was a rock solid engine that seemed to me to be extremely dimension-ally stable and would go a couple hundred thousand miles easy with the usual replacement of timing chain, lifters etc.

Our 66 when I was a kid .... the freakin oil would come out of that thing after 3000 miles looking like you just poured it out of a can. 20 mpg all day long with a 2 barrel and a powerglide. I'd love to own a another 66 with a 326, 4 bbl, auto, no power anything and a Sears add on AC

Default 3.8 turd? Ford yes, GM I think not

N/A 3800's routinely would last over 250,000 miles. but by then the rest of the car was usually shot. And the transaxle they were bolted to had been rebuilt at least once.
With the benefit of a transmission replacement, the 3800 are a 300,000 mile engine all day long. I have seen a photo of one late 80s LeSabre odometer with over 400,000.
The best ones are from 1988-1992. Before 1988 it was called a 3.8. Then they changed the nomenclature to 3800 when they upgraded it with an internal balance shaft and roller lifters.
1992 was the last year they used all aluminum intake manifolds. For '93, the bean counters at GM decided to make the upper intake plenum out of plastic .
These are well known to cause a coolant passage failure in the intake gasket, usually before 125K-150K miles. If it's caught early, they can have the same longevity as the 88-92 motor.

The 3.8 "turd" SSR was informed of must have been the one found in Ford mini vans.

That must have been one beautiful car when it was new. Great color combo and really well optioned. A worthy project.
