You thought headers cost a lot now?
Check this out. I will try to get a clear image. These are 1964 prices for Hedman headers. Scroll to right to see them. Look familiars to our 60 Pontiac friend Troy!

Then again, $60 in 1964 is about $385 in today's dollars....

Stu, I was figuring it would be around $550 to $660 now since an average car is what, around $20,000 and then it was around $2,000 and an average house is around $165,000 (here in KC) and back then they were around $18,000? It is easy to see why swapping on headers in 1964 then was a little more of a decision than it is now. .
OOps, I also forgot to point out that the $60 was for the headers only and you still need the $30 "collectors" with them so that is $90. Ouch again!!!! Thanks for the comment! Tom

Since you're on the subject of price inflation, regarding go-fast parts-
Try to imagine how many people could cough up $1,000 in 1962 for M/T hemi heads! (Some people see the old M/T catalog, and can't understand why more hemi heads weren't sold). |

I'd take some of those 409 gaskets for that price too!
