Default 428 price?

I got an offer on a 428 that came out of å -69 car. Dont know what heads etc or anything more than its supposed to run well. I know its hard to tell but what is a 428 like this worth roughly?

He requests 2300 USD which dont seem lika bargain.
What would a complete 428 with #16 heads with a known honest history, running good (ready to put in the car) be worth/cost in the US?

I think that's TOO much for a 40 year old engine. BUT, if it's a fresh properly rebuilt engine, the price may not be too far out of line.

Is it a 2 bolt or 4 bolt main block. Were the heads put on that motor because in '69 it should have #62's for a GP motor.

Hej, Anders, läget?

It would be nice to have the casting dates on both block and heads?

se428bandit: I just took the 428 with 16 heads as an example.
Kent; heads and blockcastings was my first question but all info provided by the seller was that it is a 428 taken out of a -69 car. Dont know how he can be sure its even a 428.........
Would sure like to have a roaring 428 in the vert...... A friend of mine had a -67 firebird vert with 428 and manual shift (3 or 4?) It had 428 emblems on hood and trunk. Could it have been a Royal Bobcat....?

OK, it turned out to be 290 Hp 400 blockcasting 9790071 code YD, not a 428.
It came out of a -69 Catalina that according to the seller should be a 428 car. He was honest enough to inform me about the mistake and even sent me a bunch of pictures of the engine. Case closed.
