Default Door edge moldings?

Picked up some after market moldings. Any tricks to installing without boogering up the new paint?

That is the one I thought it was. Those will chip the paint off the door's edge.

I take a paint stick, sand the thickness to that of the door's edge, round off the end and tap it into the guard from one end to the other a little at a time to spread it open. Also, run your finger along the edges to check for stamping burrs that can scratch the paint. Test fit onto the door. You want it snug to slightly loose as to not damage the paint. Take clear silicone and place a very thin bead at the base of the groove of the guard. Reinstall and hand press it on from top to bottom until fully seated.

I have done them this way since the 80's and never chipped the paint.

Its a little time consuming but it works well and won't "F" up the paint. Also, place the guard on a 2x4 to protect the outside and absorb the impact.
