68 GTO Rear Window Fit
I bought a new tinted date coded rear glass from Auto City Classics 11/2012. Finally tried to install it this month. It was installed several times trying to get the rear bottom corners to seat so that the trim moldings would fit. I final put my old scratched glass in and it fit perfectly. Turns out that the new glass was not curved the same as the old one. Got a call in to Auto City to see what they will do. Has anyone replaced their rear window with a new one? If so, where did you purchase it from? How was the fit? Just trying to get some alternatives. Wish I could find a old tinted glass that was not scratched.

I bought my back window from Auto City Classic as well as a windshield
for my 70 Chevelle SS hardtop and they both fit perfectly. They are nice folks to deal with and I'm sure they'll get you one that fits if you tell them what happened. |

Can tailoring the rope sealer thickness allow for fit?

No, the glass just does not have the correct curve. I talked to Auto City Classic and they are getting some rear glass in from a different manufacturer in a couple of weeks. Apparently, they have a jig that allows them to see how the glass fits. Sounds like they will make good on the fit.
