Ground strap placement
Where, exactly does the ground strap from the rear of the passenger side head attach to the firewall in a 1970 GTO? My firewall is unaltered as far as I know, yet I see no dimples or, more likely, an appropriately placed hole.
Also, how many grounds in 1970? Frame to core support? Frame to inner fender? Thanks, my friends. Jimbo |

For 70, the inner fender strap was not intended to be installed. Doesn't mean some plants didn't install them, or dealers diagnosing ground issues, but the inner fender strap is not included in the 70 assembly manual. There was also a ground included in the engine wiring harness that was secured to the rear drivers head.

Great info, thanks.
I was not looking in the right place on the firewall to attach the strap. I'm going to run a strap from the passenger side frame to the inner fender, like in '69. Does anyone have a photo or diagram showing where on the inner fender that strap would attach? I notice that the original straps could be detached from the firewall terminal without unscrewing the terminal. Is this type strap reproduced? |
