Yes on both. It had an aluminum intake with no crossover, I think he said off of a 70 HO (he has the correct intake). He has a 74 sd also and a 73 455 t/a (not sd). Guy said he was from Indiana but I forget his name!

74 SD 455 engine work advise
Ok guys, after a long down time, I've decided to get my beat up SD running and eventually restored.
hasn't moved since 2014. So there's plenty to check and fix before hitting the roads again. Unfortunately, the Tranny is acting up also from not being driven, need advise on best places to perform engine check up, tune, overhaul, whatever it may need in the DFW area, am East of Dallas in the country near Terrell/kaufman. Thanks in advance for any input. Rick |

Acting up?
Did the tranny gasket dry out and there is a lake of tranny fluid underneath?

Hesitating before shifting, seems to get better after warm up, no fluids lost.

74 SD 455 engine work advise
Finally got the car running, sitting for so long sure screws things up! lol
has a rod knock on Cylinder 2, I believe, need to find a reputable shop with experience on SD's/Round Ports, I no longer have the sight nor tools to do it myself. what are the best Shops in the DFW area? Barr's no longer doing complete rebuilds is the word, Calvert's too busy. No luck with Grubbs, and a few other places either. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance |

Paul's in Illinois, a little too far for me. but yeah, it would be ideal if I could have it rebuilt by one of the best, like him, Potts, Buttler and the others. something I thought about, but not possible at the moment, but maybe next year, I just don't want to wait too long.

Would like opinions, positive and negative on the worthiness of this 73 SD up for sale. Seems to be a really high asking price for the automatic trans but appears authentic. If exported to Canada, should speedo list KPH instead of MPH? Anyone know the history of this car?

I dunno ...
It appears OK, but not for $179K! For a "complete restoration", the undercarriage looks kinda rough too. Likely using the 'bay for cheap advertising, and/or phishing for a buyer with too much cash and no sense. My .$02.
