Hey, b-man, just want you to know that when I made that statement above I wasn't referring to the individual "you" but rather the collective, general "you". I know that you already knew what I was saying.

Yeah I understood your meaning.
Its been quite a few years and if I did visit the strip again Id be pretty rusty. Already threw out the majority of the bucket full of time slips from my bracket racing days, sold the GTO race car over 10 years ago to focus on fun street cars instead. 2001 was my last good run in the Pontiac Drag Days race series. After a poor showing in the 2002 season I hung up my helmet. We ran 8 races for the series and took the best 6 races for the points championship tally at the end of the season. I was runner up at the first race of the season then won the 2nd one. After that I won both the 3rd and 4th races that had to be scheduled for the same weekend. We always raced either on a Saturday or maybe a Sunday once a month, but for some reason due to scheduling we had to run 2 races on one weekend. After the 3 wins and one runner up in the first 4 races on 3 separate weekends nobody could catch me in the Sportsman money bracket points, mathematically I had a lock on the series. So after 6 races I brought out my 64 Tempest and my brand new 02 WS6 and ran in the Trophy bracket. I won the Trophy bracket in both of those last 2 races. Winning a total of 5 races out of 8 driving 3 different cars along with a championship in my dedicated race car was the highlight of my racing days no doubt. Its better to be lucky than good, but I was good enough of the time.

Worked on adding turn signals to the '26 Pontiac, so I'll dare drive it on the highways.

Started on my ‘63’s engine pull. Should be ready tomorrow. A buddy is gonna come over to help when I’m actually ready to lift it out.
Lots of oil leaks and detonation at full throttle. The guy I bought the car from didn’t know jack about it. Matter of fact he thought it was a ‘73 400, I decoded it as a ‘69 with 46 heads, but lord only knows what I’ll find when I get in there.

Took the Comp into SF yesterday for the yearly Radwood show. It's less of a car show and more a scene with '80/'90s costume contests and such. If I go next year, I'm going in grunge to counter all the '80s dress up. It was cool to see some oddball '80s and '90s stuff and hear a little about what the younger generations are into.
I ran into a couple folks who were into SLP cars and saw a handful of '80s and '90s Pontiacs. I loved the LT5 6-speed swap on the 3rd Gen T/A. Super cool period approach to a motor swap. A couple of the attendees...

Changed the oil after 100 miles on the biggest engine mess I've had yet and lets just say, 1 GN engine was **** out the gate and this GTO first rebuild was worse due to lost time and money. This has engine has way less material on the tip than my last engine after the 3rd oil change at 1300 miles. Sent oil to Blackstone to get some info.

Gathering parts and calling engine builders, trying to get this project going again, lol.
still looking for some parts, and most importantly, getting the funds to see it through. It's been one setback after another, was communicating with a Builder and Shop to start some of the work, got severely sick, had to have Surgery, Insurance approved it, then day before, denied it, too late to turn back, so paid out of my pocket, should get a reimbursement check soon. Hopefully I'll get the engine taken care of asap. Last edited by bluebird455; 07-22-2024 at 10:12 AM. |

Replaced the RRear wheel cylinder so I could bleed the brakes about 2 weeks ago. Finally have half fast brakes, changed the 3 YO license plate, and went driving! Ended up at a friends house, called another friend, and he brought over his Vedoro 68 that he bought about a month ago, Bench seat, 4 speed car. Comparing notes, our cars were built in Pontiac, about 2 weeks apart. Small world!
