I'm in for a set, but what was the final cost? Thanks for spearheading this. Much appreciated. I usually never read this section, will you alert us or should we just keep watching the thread? I would probably add the alt pully as well. What was the final costs? Or let us know when the final count is in. Mark L

Not a problem, Mark.
I wanted an overdrive set up for my GTO as it has always run hotter then I liked. I switched to a smaller stock pulley and saw some improvements....and after reading the "Magic Bullet" post I thought that it shouldn't be all that difficult to convince someone to manufacture the pulley set-up that was claimed to be the "hot ticket" without charging an "arm and a leg".
After conversing at length to CVF Racing...they agreed to produce the kit and do a group buy for us as well to get things off the ground.
I'm buying one set and they will be sent to "Mirror Finish Polishing" to be polished.
I'll gain nothing more from this deal than every other member of the group buy.....The availability of an overdiven waterpump pulley kit at SBC pricing. All transactions will be handled through CVF Racing as I don't want any "middleman" complaints.
Everything will be done on their website with a discount code for the group buy. I'm waiting till we hit the magic number and then I'll ask if the power steering pump pulleys as well as the alternator fans that each member would/may want to accompany their overdrive pulley set will be included in the 15% off deal. Even if the 1 or 2 extra items aren't included....it sure beats the heck out of the current pulley pricing offerings.
Here's a link to their website for pricing info.
http://www.cvfracing.com/pontiac-pulley-kits
I'll find out what they'll do for us with S&H packages once and or if we get to 25 orders for the discount. They were quite impressed with getting 15 orders in a rather short time span. Once I let them know we have the 25 order minimum, I think it may bring us a little bit of leverage....maybe.
Thanks Again for participating in this group buy.....I think we'll all benefit from it.
as for the final cost for the 3 pulleys ( 1 waterpump, 1 crank and 1 alternator) is $116.45 + $20 S&H
Brad

could have something to do with the turbo under the hood too i suppose
My turbo car runs nice and cool even in 80 degree temps. I run a very high CFM electric fan though that covers the entire radiator. I run stock pulleys. Maybe try some watter wetter if these pulleys dont do the trick.

Theres also the seperator plate spacing and the better water pump impeller to kleep an eye on.

This looks like nice Kit and a reasonable price. If I didnt have so many other things in line that I needed for my vert ID be into this buy.

Good luck And I hope the boys all support this since the more new products we can get going for pontiacs the better. Its not an easy road thats for sure.

Well guys....seems we hit a small snag on the pulley project.
After reading the "magic Bullet" post...I set out to find "somebody" to make us pulleys for a reasonable price. using the 7.25" and 5.5" pulley measurements I went to work. but...after talking it over at length and using my junk for measuring and such...seems those sizes will not work on the later water pump set-up. A 5.5" WP pulley will net us a pulley with approx. 4" ID....and that my friends will hit the webbing on our water pumps (see pic). That being said, if we move from a 7.25" crank pulley up to a 7.9" (using an 8" round billet and removing a small amount for clean-up) and using their existing 6.2" WP pulley, it will effectively overdrive the WP approx. 128%. This compares to the factory set up w/ an 8" crank pulley and a 6.5" WP pulley which netted us an overdrive ratio of 123%. We'll gain another 5% in OD and these look better and are much easier to procure than the factory pieces. I taken the liberty of PM'ing everyone involved in this group buy thus far. If this is a deal breaker for anyone for any reason, please let me know....and if this makes a few more people interested in buying a kit...again, let me know. This will also be easier on CVF Racing because it'll be less inventory to stock...1 spare pulley instead of 2.

CVF Racing has notified me that they will work this weekend to finish designing the 7.9" crank pulley and put it on the top of their priority list for new products.

Same pricing.

Standard 1:1 kit $137 + $20 S&H
Water Pumps Over Drive Kit (127.5% Over Driven Water Pump
293% OD Alt..will help with low speed/idle charging) $137 + $20 S&H

If group but of 25 orders is met, pricing for the WP OD kit will be as follows:
WP OD Kit:
$116.45 + $20 S&H

Optional Billet Alternator fan is available for $$24
Optional Power Steering Pulley is available for $42

Once we get the OD pulleys into production....I'll inquire about combined S+H and the additional 15% discount on the optional stuff as well.

I ordered up the 1-1 ratio (both water pump and crank pulleys are 6.2" o.d.)
Pulley kit along with the alternator fan and the power steering pump pulley and received them on Friday.
Guys....these pulleys are REALLY NICE!
I wanted to make sure the crank pulley fit my Pro Race balancer and the water pump pulley fit my Stewart Components water pump before I sent them off to Mirror Finish Polishing to have them polished. Total for everything was $223 to my door for everything pictured (no discount).
I'll spend the extra $ on the 7.9" pulley when they release and sell the 6.2" crank pulley to recoupe some of the cost of that. I'm not having the 6.2" crank pulley polished...I need some pulleys for dyno time and figured this was the easiest way to go.

I contacted CVF Racing to touch base on several issues concerning the Pulley Group Buy.
#1 They have extended the pulley group buy 15% discount for ALL the Pontiac pulleys....not just the basic pulley kit. We can order the alt fan and the power steering pulley as well and they will be included in the 15% discount.

#2 They will issue us a discount code to use when you place your order with them online.

#3 They will have both a single groove and 2 groove crank pulley available for high flow (7.9" O.D.).

#4 The engineers think that employing the 3 hole BBC pattern and the 4 hole Pontiac pattern on the same pulley is "dicey" at best. They don't want to compromise the structural integrity of the pulley and the way the 3 hole and 4 hole are on different diameters it's not possible to space them so that several holes are not "very close together".

I Hope this info spurs another 3 orders for the 15% discount.

Hard to say, performerrpm....
They are growing at an extremely rapid pace. Inventory costs may prohibit them from making less popular designs/pulley arrangements. They are wanting to expand to do Pontiac bracketry and I will be helping them with that...and may need assistance from other Pontiac members who desire a more pleasant appearing bracket arrangement for their build. That being said....it seems that if we can garner 25 orders...they are willing to work on what we want. We can cross that bridge later this year to see if the demand is there.
