Post cars usually don't sell fast, so that alone affects the value. Just because they're rare, doesn't mean they're valuable. Plus nom it hurts the value even more.

67 GTOs did not come from the factory with tri power. I think 66 was the last year for any Pontiac to have tri power. Any is the key word.

Ask the guy if he knows if the engine is a Big Block. That one stupid question alone will tell you how much he knows about Pontiacs.

Check the VIN and the trim tag.

$16,000.00 - $17,000.00 max and that is if you really have to have it. There are plenty of better GTOs out there for under 30 grand. Way too many people out there that think that if they have a GTO, they have a cash cow. And most of those people need to stop watching Barrett-Jackson.

I think they made like 7,700 GTO post cars for 67 and over 12,000 convertibles for 67...unfortunately it doesn't make the post cars more valuable. Hopefully this can work to your advantage since some people think the post cars are actually worth LESS than the hardtops....it certainly doesn't cost any less to restore

No, it certainly does not. Being a post complicates some things, especially side glass related and door parts.

These what's it worth threads really make me crazy but I do enjoy them at the same time.
Everyone's an expert anymore!
I do agree with the first poster that post cars usually don't sell fast. Even thou the last one I had I sold to a member here for what I thought was good money and he resold it in a week for 10k more.

Fair value? Hmmm... I think everyone has already talked about the important issues affecting value, but I suppose it depends how badly you want one?

For me, I would take a post car over a HT all day long. But maybe I'm biased?

Garage goat1, that question alone will tell how much of a fool he is. And it'll tell if he's full of BS and knows nothing about it.

Most guys back them wanted the post cars to turn into drag strip cars as they were lighter than the hard tops. Look at photos of the old drag strip cars and you'll see that most were post cars. That's what the top racers used.

And that is why they outsold hardtops and convertibles.

The post cars absolutely DID NOT out sell hardtops and convertibles...for '67...... 81,722 GTO's were sold...of that # 9,517 were convertibles and 7,029 were post coupes....

I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic in response to Gary's comment above it. ^^

Same thought here. LOL

But if you look at the Pontiac A-body drag strip cars, almost all of them were post cars because they weighed less than the hard tops.
