Bronze Distributor gear question
Any of you ever encountered a bronze gear that was only drilled on one side for the roll pin? Whats the best way to try to take it apart? Preferably without destroying it... And just fyi, I didn't install it this way, it came on a used distributor already installed.

Could id be screwed in? Maybe an easy-out bit ?

Charlie, its not screwed. Its a regular roll pin driven in from the available side, with no hole on the opposite side to drive it out. I can get it off, but was hopeful someone had a non destructive method that had worked for them. I'm pretty sure I can shear it if all else fails. There's at least some chance it could be salvaged that way.

Run a small (size right) bit through the center and make your own access hole.
After you get the pilot hole drilled.. Open it up just enough to drive the pin out. Then study about sizeing it right for a longer pin Clay |

Inside of roll pin is evidently just un uniform enough to cause issues. Broken drill bit made it necessary to shear the pin. Its off. Gear won't be easily salvaged, but I have another. Now on to building new cam synch with it.

I would of tried pulling it out with a screw or a small easyout

I would guess anything that increased the interference, such as any ez out or screw would be futile. The broken drill bit dictated my course of action in the end. Baffling to me why it was a blind hole to start with...

Is there enough of the roll pin sticking out so that you could spot weld a nut to it?
Then you could possible pry or pull it out the way it went in. |

There was very little, and it was close enough to the shoulder that it would've been challenging. Its done now, I sheared the pin. Gouged the bronze bore, but otherwise its ok.
