If your building a motor that will need to get balanced then try to track down a 65 or 66 389 Armasteel Crank.

They have the needed Crank snout lenght to be used in a 400 motor.

Default 67-68 400 crank?

FYI....ONLY the 1966 389 Cranks have the long nose....the 65's will have a short nose....Both are Arma Steal as stated...the 1966 long nose version is what they used for the RAII and IV cranks but with the original cast # ground off and new part # hand stamped in its place.

Well I don't know about that info because I used the 1965 389 Crank out of my own B body car to build a 400 that used the 400 balancer and timing cover!

No issues since info says all 1963 (exc. 1963 421) and later cranks has a 3.00" snout.
Btw, 400 engines uses both the early 1963-67 damper and the 1968 and later damper depending on year and corresponding timing cover.

Default 400 crank

I know couple stock eliminator racers, they told me that the 350 crank was a bit lighter than the 400, but I'm not sure if this is true.

That's only help full if your running lighter then stock Rods and Pistons where you would be taking weight out of the Crank during a balance job anyway!

I have never looked at , or A/ B the diameter of the counter weights between a 350 and a 389 or 400 crank, but if they where of a smaller OD then that would certainly make for a reduction in hp loss due to windage if nothing else.

I have a 66 326 crank that is 770 casting but it has an N cast into it. So is it Nodular or Armasteel crank.

It's true, works great with lighter reciprocating assembly.

That 326 N Crank is a good one also, and I would not hesitate to use it in any build of a 3.750" stroke motor if it passes a Mag test and rings out nice when tapped on lightly when tilted on a 45 degree angle off its flange and you hold the top of the Crank by the balancer bolt that's in a few threads.
