Bought some Hylift-Johnson lifters, (thanks Paul K), adjusted the valves and painted the engine.
Thinking about installing the headliner while the weather is still warm (90* yesterday).

Slotted rotors and carbon fiber pads all around on my 1999 GP SE. Now if Power Stop had sent the correct rear brake pads in the kit, I'd be driving it, But they screwed up, and I'm waiting on them to ship the correct ones before I can reassemble it................

Anyone else use Power Stop brakes, and rotors on their cars? I'm curious to find out how much improvement I'll have over OEM semi metallic, and conventional rotors. Their website claims 36% better braking. I got the Z23 option for daily drivers.

A couple weeks ago I charged the battery on the 05 GTO, it discharges after sitting over the winter with all the electronics on the car. I hardly drove the GTO last year, I plan on driving it more this year...........

I have installed 2 of the Power Stop kits on family cars. My daughter absolutely destroys every car she drives and the brakes are usually the first to go unless she kills the engine or transmission first. I used a Z23 kit without calipers on her 2009 Impala. They worked really well. Improved stopping power, smooth and quiet. No pulsation until she totaled that one after about 15,000 miles. Generally, she would have the front's pulsating after a brake job in 5-7K miles. The second kit I installed was on a 2008 Hemi Grand Cherokee for her. This was a complete kit with 4 calipers. Very nice stuff and so far after a year and a half and 20K+ miles, the brakes are still really good.

Mike, the calipers are all good on the (Arizona) car so I just got pads and rotors. Rotors warped on the rear, not what I'm used to, usually the front in most of my cars in the past. I also towed a small U Haul back after my mother passed in Nov, so that may have hastened the brake pulsation and rotor warpage.

Your daughter must drive like she's a race car driver on the street...LOL. Not the first time you mentioned how hard she is on vehicles.

I'm hoping for less brake dust on the wheels with the Power Stop brakes too. I have a set of the cross laced wheels from the mid 90s Bonnevilles on the GP, and they're always got rusty powder from the semi metallic pads all over them. Past experience with carbon fiber is usually a lot less brake dust sticking to the wheels on my GTO with Wagner C/F pads.

Today i decided to fix something that has bugged me since I reassembled my 64 GTO in 2017. Somehow at that time when I rebuilt the cluster I had the speedo needle misaligned, it always indicated below zero mph on the gauge when parked. I must have pressed the needle on when it was at the stop, but not aligned to zero so it hung at about the 6 o’clock position.
It always irritated me that i made such a dumb mistake - and, of course reminded of it every time I glanced at the speedo when driving (besides always having to add on 10-12 mph for true speed). So today i pulled the instrument cluster and repositioned the needle. In the background of first pic you can see incorrect needle position, pic two is cluster pulled....it pays to have smaller hands when you do jobs like this
Should finish tomorrow on the reinstall.........this one was on my list to fix right away after i finished the resto - finally got to it 4 yrs later

I don’t blame you for procrastinating. Pulling out the instruments on ‘64s and ‘65s is not fun.

Last year the turn signal was getting sloppy. Pulled the steering wheel and went over everything in the turn signal switch assembly, replaced the centering bushing. It is a plastic bushing that sort of looks like a top hat.

Pulled the cover off of the G8, quick once over with Adams detailer, checked fluids, disconnected the battery tender and went for a shake down cruise. All is well. All I have to do is rotate the tires and should be good to go! It got up to 67 here in Wisconsin today.

Hand built 2 underdash "accessory" panels and installed 1955 DeSoto gauges and turn signal indicators in my 1931 Pontiac dash.
