The Pontiac version has the Iron Duke engine instead of the POS aluminum Vega engine.

You need to post a pic from the ad, they are always ended or deleted and you see nothing.

I dunno how solid it is, though. Check out the upper left part of this picture, and just imagine what the floor pans and rear frame rails might look like...

The rust is where the battery tray should be, very common for an H-Body to rot out under the battery. I would only be concerned if it had spread to the frame rail under where the battery tray should be.

Looks like it is at least reasonably priced, unlike the 73 Lemans recently posted.

Here's the Astre. According to the air cleaner it's a Formula.

FWIW, I've never seen a Vega battery tray area that didn't look like that.

Saw this and got excited, read the fine print. Chebby 350? The owners name is Dick, totally makes sense. Easy fix though!

For some reason every Iron Duke put in a Astre in 1977 had the Chrome Valve cover, and the Formula sticker on the air filter plastic cover.

That is a very base model car, the only options I see are Power Steering, A/C (with removed compressor) the body stripe, tinted glass & auto transmission.

I think I see a Radial Tuned Suspension emblem on the dash, heck it even has the base interior with the Vega style seats. But I do see it also has the optional Custom Cushion Steering Wheel. The car makes my 77 Formula look like a Luxery car!

What other options might there have been? I can't imagine much, other than maybe an auto vs. stick, maybe glass defrosters or something.

They could order a delux interior that got you base Firebird Bucket seats, better door panels than the hard plastic ones this one has, power brakes, Tilt Column, formula steering wheel, rally gauges, rally or snow flake wheels, rear window defrost, Power brakes, Long Center console, intermittent wipers, off the top of my head.

So motor and transmission? It's begging for a V8, and there's even a clutch pedal.

What makes the gauges auto? I have a manual Tacoma and it has nothing but a speed-o, fuel gauge and idiot lamps. First manual I've ever owned without a tach.
I notice that a lot of the import car forum people or people kind of new to wrenching confuse 'turn over' 'crank' and 'start'. Makes it really tough to decipher when they post a question like, 'Car cranks but won't turn over'.

Might make a neat little farm vehicle...but I'm thinking more like $300 or so, if it runs.

I think he means the the gearshift selector (i.e. P R N O D 2 1), although it does have a tach.

Love bugs are a particularly nasty insect we get twice a year (spring and fall) in the deep south.
The only purpose they serve (that I am aware of) is to mate and splat themselves on the front of your car. If not removed promptly, the carcass will eat through your paint! They appear to be drawn to exhaust emissions and tall grass,

I don't think they have made it much further north than I-20.
