Default 1970 Grand Prix SJ 4speed conversion

Want to convert a 70 GP SJ 455 from an auto to a 4 speed. Are all the linkage parts the same as an a-body? What about the bell crank and the frame brackets? Reverse lockout? Pedals? Thanks for the help

I think the console trim plate is made of unobtanium.

Actually the long ash tray is harder to find than the console lid. J and SJ embems are bolt onFour speed and three speed are the same lid. Proper bucket is embossed not smooth. Rest is just A-body parts.

BTW GP dash tach had a blue filter, GTO was clear.

I can’t speak for 70 models but 69 GP’s used a unique frame bracket for supporting/connecting the “Z-bar” to the frame. I think Ames carries it.

^^^^^^ this ^^^^^^

Pretty sure it was for both years.

And the reproduction frame bracket we've seen was exact - can't imagine more than one person makes them.

I parted out a 69 4-spd car many years ago, and sold all of the parts to convert, except the ash tray. I didn't realize the ash tray was different.

That's a gold nugget right there, Mike! Yes, they are nearly half as wide to fit into the narrower area of the console plate.

Possibly was unclear: ash tray opening is 1.75" x 3.75" and is 3.5" deep
