Default Ididit column gap

I bought the kit for 55-68 GM steering wheels just to find out it only fits “some” GM wheels. There is a gap between the wheel and the column that needs to be taken up by something. The tech support at Ididit I swear to god told me the metal bottom of a planters cheese poof can was the exact right dimension and to gently cut it off and glue it on. I know someone is running an ididit column in their A body. Where did you find a spacer or where did you get it made?

Yeah there is a gap that they don’t make an aluminum filler ring for. They say their kit fits 80% of GM wheels. Someone surely is using a stock wheel and an ididit column

Nothing like using the bottom of a cheese puff can on a 120k build. Gotta love it.

Don't think it was cheese puffs.. But the plastic lid off of some food product made a better filler/spacer for 69 up locking columns than the factory plastic piece.

Could always have some one else cut the bottom out of a can and sell it to you as a custom made part.

If something works...
Or go to the store and find something you like better

It’s only 50k but you’re exactly right, I’m not using a damn planters can. EVOD industries is gonna make it for me

If your next post is "The spacer scratched the steering wheel. What color touch up paint will match my steering wheel?" I will lose my mind.

No I had the spacer made actually by a local shop cause EVOD wanted to charge me 80 dollars just to design a donut then charge me 40 or more to cut it when I had all the measurements. It fits to the column perfectly and per Ididits guidelines it should be glued to the wheel so no scratches.

Just in case anyone ever needs the spacer the diameter of the column is 3.85, the thickness is good at 1/16 and the hub varies slightly from wheel to wheel I tested (don’t have my wheel back yet to have the final hole cut) but it’s about 2.76

Xs 2 with post 7, or the next question will be what brand ignition and trunk key blanks do you folks recommend!

Just some friendly ribbing but a 1/16" gap seems pretty miniscule. Sometimes you fixate on minutiae and wind up doing more damage trying to correct a problem that isn't really a problem.

Its really noticeable, I’m just guessing at a 1/16 of an inch, it’s not a LOT but it’s enough to where you can see down into the column and see the white of the turn signal switch. Ididit makes the spacer. It fits 95% of GM steering wheels, just of course not mine.
