Default 1970 GTO Fiberglass front bumper and Hood Install

I have all stock stuff now. Looking at getting VFN bolt on hood and front nose.

Advice on installing the nose and hood while keeping the stock headlight buckets, grills, etc? I have all the stock brackets obviously. What other parts should be ordered with it?

Looks like light springs and hood pins for the front of the hood are needed.

I would think the weight loss will be well over 100 lb. Anyone do the weight comparison? Glass hood and bumper = 24lb +7 lb

I think you might get more answers in the race section forum. Just a thought.

I would think you would lose the 100lbs just with the front nose.

Good luck with your project.

Sure, I did a glass bumper swap on a 70 GTO about 35 years ago and it is still working out well. This is a street car and uses a stock hood.
After some trial and error, I realized the weight/bulk of the head lamp assemblies was too much for the bumper. I ended up mounting the head lamp assemblies to the core support and only the grilles are mounted to the bumper. Later, I did a 72 in the late 1990s that I still use and will be doing 2 on a 68 and a 69. I really like and have enjoyed the benefits of glass bumpers on street GTOs for over 30 years now. better braking, handling, looks better and more. Put the batt in trunk too to get even more weight off the front of the GTO. Best to you. pontiaceaven.org I do not know how to post pics here but, you can message me through Pontiac Heaven on face book for pics and info.
