I purchased the rocker molding and clip set from OPGI and have questions. Whoever had the car before me didn’t use clips but rather screwed the molding directly to the rocker so I have nothing to go by. I’d like to return the car to it’s stock appearance.

1. Can the clips be attached to the existing OEM holes (3/8”) or do I drill new holes?
2. I know from experience that snapping the molding in place with a wack of my palm can be tricky on older cars, and I’m more uneasy when it comes to reproduction parts. Is there any tricks that make the install easier so I’m not beating up my new trim?

Your post is a little confusing. You said the previous owner screwed the molding to the rocker panel. Then, you refer to the OEM holes. If the OEM holes are there, you can use them. The front and back, however, are secured with screws. The front screw is secured by a plastic "nut" that is square and snaps into the front fender bottom.

If you use OEM-type clips, installation is not difficult. You simply hold the molding against the bottom of the rocker panel, lift it up to engage the clip and lightly push it in place with your palm.

Thanks Dick and sorry for the confusion. I think I added more info than needed. I essentially wasn’t sure how the clips mounted and after 2 attempts and no return call from OPGI’s product specialist, I called Ames and they sent me a pic. After that everything went together without issue.
