Default 1963 Catalina?

I have pics I grabbed from our home movies of my parents car in around 1963/64.
I was wondering why the mirrors are on the fenders while all the pics I see on the web have them on the door?
Also is it for sure a 1963 Cat?

It is a 63 Catalina and the mirrors are in the right place!

I agree it appears to be in the right place. I know remote control mirrors were fender mounted as well. Also, back then outside mirrors (especially on the passenger side) were optional, and it wasn't unusual for them to be installed by the dealer instead of at the factory. As a result, the dealers would sometimes use aftermarket mirrors to save a few bucks, and they could have been installed wherever the dealer felt like.

Thanks, guys!

Makes sense on the manual being on door where it can be reached.

My two 63s have remote mirrors on the fenders. That was an option back then. I have a 63 Bonne and 63 GP with two remote mirrors. on the fenders.

That picture of the remote passenger side mirror is the first time I've ever seen one.

I don't think the passenger side was remote, it was made to match the driver side but still manual.
