It's a shame. I have said it before. It is a great car that was just born with the wrong name.

Some in the Lobby seem to think the new GTO is a ghost at the dragstrips and at the stop lights compared to the new Stangs. Have anything to say about it as I did? Go to the Lobby in 'THE GTO IS DEAD" post and let them know what this mighty Poncho is made of!!!

The '06 GTO looks every bit as good today as the '64 did in '66. I was there, one complaint from the people not interested in just performance was how bland they were. The more things change, the more people make stupid, opinionated comments.

When I had my 04 at the track awhile back got lined up against a new Rousch Stang and slowly pulled away from him the whole length of the track even with me getting poor traction. And I'm 50 hp down from an 05-06!

I think the "big" interest is yet to happen. I decided to buy mine off lease because its a FUN car to drive, plus the performance coupled with dependability factor.
As more and more parts come available, the performance gains will be record setting, and hard for young guys and gals new into performance not to embrace it.
These new L92 heads flow 330 cfm CAST out of the box, no port work, no cnc work, and for $350 each!
The HP gains per $ spent is hard not to look at.

And for less than the price of a set of 315cfm 87cc E-heads you can buy a set of 390cfm heads ready to bolt on... The LSx based motors have a lot of potential.

Most of the new Mustangs I see are V6, every GTO I see is a V8, LOL
I bought my 2006 GTO because I already have a belly button, and I don't need the "look at me" appeal of the Mustang.
The GTO's are a great performing car and a sleeper, the 'ghost' may turn into a legend.

AWESOME DAILY DRIVER THAT DOESN'T STICK OUT IN A PARKING LOT. IT'S NOT SUPPOSE TO BE A COLLECTOR CAR! DRIVE THE DAMN THINGS! I LIKE THAT THEY BLEND IN, BUT REALLY, TO ME, THE NEW GTO DOESN'T BLEND IN TOO MUCH. I DON'T OWN ONE, BUT WOULD IF I HAD THE EXTRA CASH. I DROVE ONE, IT WAS A FUN CAR!

Don't forget, everyone will think you're driving a Cavalier, a really bland Z24, that's over priced and under loved!

I've only had mine for a couple months so far, but every time I drive her I do not want to stop. While I do not think it is any faster through the 1/4 than my old one, it just does lotsa speed with seemingly no effort or drama. Of course, then you add in the comfort, handling, braking, and fuel mileage (27.6 highway, so far). It does get looks, but only from those who are in the know.
Bland, nah. Under the radar is more like it.
Actually, I had her out tonight and there was a Bimmer behind me that had the same size and shape as the GTO. Same smooth rounded front end, same basic look from the side. I don't know what model it was, but it sure was bland!

The Rousch Stang looked really nice and was a GT w/V8. Obviously not with the supercharger!
"Don't forget, everyone will think you're driving a Cavalier, a really bland Z24" "The GTO's are a great performing car and a sleeper" Used to tell then my Impala had a 348 truck motor in it too
You know I got my 04 new when the 05's were out for $25,000. Couldn't buy a nice Gran Prix for that, much less rear wheel drive V8 car other than Ford. But then they were over 30K for a nice GT.
Any LS motor is unbelievable. The 5.3 in my wife's Avalanche has alot broader TQ curve than my 350 Vortec truck. May pick up a truck 6.0 and through one of those new carb intakes and a 850 DP!

You did understand I was joking? I love the cars and I'm looking at an '05 this week.

I understood that, but it does look like a sleeper and that is what I was refering to. A 64 GTO is a sleeper, and a big 64 Impala doesn't look like it should smoke a BBC Camaro or Mustang either especially with a "348 Truck motor" But it can and make a little spending money!
One of my mechanic buddies drove my GTO and was quite impressed with it.

I'm sorry, but I think my '06 is anything but bland and with a Maggie coming very soon I beg anyone to come get some!
