For Sale: 1963 Tempest with Ford 9" Detroit Locker 3.55 gears
It has been many years since I have been on this forum. Last time around I was a kid building a street/strip '79 Firebird and using it as a daily driver. Now, the car is long gone, I grew up, got married, moved to Texas, and had a child.
At the beginning of this year I decided to get back around to working on Pontiacs. So, I bought a 1963 Tempest with every intention of making that my daily driver. We moved pretty shortly after and I didn't have room for it in the new garage, so it went into storage. Now, a car that I have wanted since I was 16 became available (1968 Firebird) and that is the project I am switching to. Thus, the Tempest needs to go. I know I am probably not going to get what I have in it, but it needs to go regardless. About the car: 1963 Tempest (roller) no engine or trans. The body is pretty solid with a few rust spots on the rear quarters, but the rest of the car is nice. The interior is pretty sparse and needs to be redone. It has all of the seats, I tossed the old rotten carpet, and it doesn't have a dash pad. - Ford 9" with a Detroit Locker, Strange Axles, and 3.55 gears - A bolt-in 4-Link setup fabricated by the previous owner - I have the grills, headlights / headlight assemblies, and a solid hood off of another 63. The car currently doesn't have a title. I started to go down the Vermont registration process to get papers literally the day before the '68 Firebird project presented itself, at which I decided to stop to keep from investing anymore into the '63. I'm into this project $5000, half of which is the cost of the 9" rear setup I got from the previous owner. So, make me a reasonable offer and it is yours. Note: I live (the car is located) in Plano, Texas.
