I pulled it, bent it back into shape and welded a plate on the back of the channel to reinforce it. Now off to install it.

Ram Air Restorations do a kit for $650..

You might have saved a few bucks already.

I am going to hold off on that kit and focus funds on some other things first. The repair worked out well and it centered the axle but she rides an inch higher on the passenger side still. Got a set of air bag in spring coming but I think they are the wrong ones. Anybody know where to get some heavy duty rear springs?

Just put in for a quote from coilsprings.com. Going to bump the ass up 2" and 25% stiffer ride for cargo and handling. Have 3.08 gears on order from a member and hei as well. Im going to focus on the engine after the bugs in the rear are addressed to a acceptable point.

Looks good with that wheel/tire combo! You are certainly not wasting any time getting that car in shape. Looks like you have a decent amount of sidewall with a 16" rim. I may be going to that size to get a little smoother ride out of the tires. With a 17" rim and the low profile tires I have there is very little sidewall (stiff).

Thanks mark. I took your advice on the sidewalls. There is not as many tire options in a 16" rim but I think it works. The rear tires could be an inch taller but I'm definitely happy with the new shoes. Rear axle sits over to the passenger side still about an inch. I think I need to do the whole rear suspension with new bushings, control arms, sway bar to get stuff straight again.

Installed the air in coil helpers today, bumped up the rear an inch and made the ride a bit more stiff. A definite improvement. PO already put new shocks on her. Brakes are next on the list.

The air bags in the coil were very easy to install with a little heat on the bags before stuffing them in. Plug and play really.

When you say the rear is not centered in the car are you measuring from the frame to the inside lip of the wheel? Do not trust measurements to the body sheet metal. There could have been body work done (qtr. panel replacement etc.) years ago that would throw off that measurement.

That looks great. Love the land yachts. Had a 2 door 66 Park Lane of similar dimensions.

I need to get my measuring equipment out but I suspect you are correct. Too damn cold to mess with it for a while. Spring time is around the corner.

Took her for a spin yesterday. Got an exhaust manifold issue. Possible cracked manifold? Just had the pipes fixed and the sound is coming from the engine bay. Been tied up with my jeep issues momentarily. Spring has sprung. Got front brakes coming in tomorrow, should be able to get those done easy enough in the driveway between jeep fixes.

Could be, could also be the gasket is bad. My '73 was backfiring horribly and blew out the driver's side exhaust downpipe when I got it, all of that is fixed now yet I've got an exhaust leak on that side that comes and goes. I'm going to pull the manifold first and check for cracks and gasket integrity...

Could also be the exhaust crossover leaking at the intake manifold. It should be easy enough to isolate it poking around under the hood with the motor running.

I'm going to bring it to a friends shop. He has a nice lift and said he'd help me out. The roads are still too muddy for nice cars.

Thumbs up Great representation of the DarkSide!

The alloy wheels you chose look sharp - any plans to hide the Fe2 O3 between the wheel spokes and paint the faces of the drums with some high-temp black?

Beware that the original timing gear probably has plastic teeth - Check (if not replace) it while the engine is still in one piece. ...Been there, broke that, emptied bank account from it.

Not sure if you saw my post in parts for sale, but if protecting the dash and steering wheel are important, I am liquidating the few remaining tailor-made DashBlankets I have on hand for $45 shipped to a US address. See image.

Ha, just painted them today while inspecting brakes.

PO said the front brakes needed replaced but there is plenty of shoe left. Any ideas on why my pedal is 1/4" off the floor and the brakes are grabby?

I am going to put a new timing set on soon 107k is long enough.

Yep: Brake system needs to be gone thru. Don't believe some hack prior owner, especially if the emmer effer didn't put at least 10k miles on it within the last couple years!
