Not for sure on this.
On the BHC the '2' is probably for the top color - black. The '1' is possibly for special paint code. The cowl tag usually has a letter for the top color which would be 'B'. So possibly the '2' is for the special paint code, which I can't remember off-hand what that means, maybe not a Pontiac color? BTW, what are the letters on the bottom - C B 134 or D B 134 or ?

On a 67 , the top color on the trim tag would be numerical.
ex : A - 2 (Black Paint with Black Top) The "2" on your trim tag is probably the top color. If the special paint were a Code 2 Color - the PHS would show Code 2 (instead of Code 1) Code 1 for a 67 could be Tiger Gold , Omaha Orange, Sherwood Green, Verdoro Green Maybe you can find some hidden original color remnants somewhere on/in the car. Careful paint removal on the trunklid hinges might show it. Good Luck |

So is a 1 code a special paint code, or just a 4 option choice of paints code ?

Code 1's were extra charge colors - a) that were pre-selected by Pontiac as further choices b) offered on another bodystyle Pontiac Tiger Gold was probably available from beginning of 67 production as a carry over from 65 & 66. The other 3 choices were probably available later as "Spring Colors" Code 2's were usually a GM Color that wasn't offered on that year Pontiac Body in the general selection of sales literature. Code 3's are said to have been for High Metallic/Firemist Cadillac colors. Have never seen an example. Code 4's were Primer Code 6's were Fleet or Batch colors (multiple units) These are Invoice Codes and likely other numbers used too. Trim Tag Codes can vary all over the place sometimes with how they were designated. Let us know what you find color-wise on your GTO , please. Omaha, Sherwood or Verdoro would be especially rare and unique on a 67 GTO. Omaha probably the very most unique Quote:

I'm admittedly no expert on '67s, but I didn't think "Tiger Gold" was a SPEC paint option for '67 - I thought they renamed it to Coronado Gold and made it a RPO for that model year? 1965 Tiger Gold and 1967 Coronado Gold have the same PPG codes (22728)

1967 GTO Colors Starlight Black A Cameo Ivory C Montero Blue D Fathom Blue E Tyrol Blue F Signet Gold G Linden Green H Gulf Turquoise K Mariner Turquoise L Plum Mist M Burgundy N Silverglaze P Regimental Red R Champagne S Montego Cream T Any color other than these would be Special Order/Special Paint/Extra Charge - on GTO. Whether chosen to call it Tiger or Coronado - usually depends on what the subject or topic vehicle is. On paintref.com charts its called both names. Paint Code O is assigned to it on paintref.com 67 Tiger Gold (or if you rather - Coronado Gold) GTO's are known and documented. None of them carry Paint Code O on the trim tags - afaik Does anyone have record of a 67 GTO or 67 AnyPontiac with Code O on trim tag ? Firebird or Fullsize may have used Code O for it - idunno Coronado may have been labeled that way for Firebird introduction/release mid-year. Verdoro Green was a 67 Firebird color for instance. On a Bird it would carry Code Q - on a GTO it would carry Code 1 (on PHS). Just because we may find listings here or there - does not make a color a free choice across the board - unless it was one of the base original introduction colors at beginning of model year. To get THAT color Gold on a GTO in 67 - you paid extra. And they all have Code 1 on PHS from my recall so far. Any color not listed in the 15 colors above - was extra charge for Special Paint on a GTO. Tiger or Coronado label would be a matter of choice - i suppose. On FirstGenFirebird website they are also listing a few other colors than i listed - I am supposing "Spring Colors" . Have seen PMD charts for 66 and 68 "Special Order" & "Spring Color"- but not for 67. Just listing these in case anyone wants to do further research for PMD Bulletins. Mayfair Maize Copper Blaze (867-98105) Sierra Red (867-97592) Silver Turquoise (867-99079) Blue Charcoal (867-97211) Last edited by Baron Von Zeppelin; 02-19-2021 at 06:54 PM. |

Rare4K is Baltimore also And also BLANK for Paint Code on Trim Tag Quote:
It sounds like you are saying your trim tag is BLANK for paint code. BUT - what is listed on your PHS for paint code ? I have some more info from FirstGenFirebird website that might explain your color better if you also have "1" on your PHS. They also list these other Special Paint options for 1967 Pontiac Mayfair Maize Copper Blaze (867-98105) Sierra Red (867-97592) Silver Turquoise (867-99079) Blue Charcoal (867-97211) The Blue Charcoal is likely your color - if you have Code 1 on PHS. The BLANK trim tag is most likely just a Baltimore protocol |

If it is Code 1 - then it is a color PMD pulled under their umbrella (which could still be a "Buick" color they adopted as a Special Color) The 1 or 2 on PHS will determine that The #1 thing is you own the car, above and beyond all else. Defining the color selection process in 1967 is about #37+ |

Truly a gorgeous 67, Troy. Luv the Rally I's with BFG's, white letters out. What size wheels & tires are you running? 15x7, or 15x8? 235 up front and 255 out back, or?
I'm thinking of going with Rally I's on my 67 soon for a change.

I don't think the 17's would improve the look at all. Performance maybe, but not the look. Your's looks perfect to me as is.

What color is it now around the Data Tag? I had a '67 GTO convertible painted factory Iris Mist, black top, black interior, Ram Air hood (not ram air engine) M21, 3.90 single track. The car was painted a Navy blue, but they did not paint anymore than the outside panels, so Iris Mist was still found on many places.
I would think you'll find the original color still left somewhere on the car even if it had been painted over. |

Looks like the tag was protected and the whole firewall was media blasted. So probably the whole car has been blasted. Hopefully he can find some obscure spot that still has good clues. |

For reference, there is a 67 GTO on eBay right now that is advertised as being "Tiger Gold".
The PHS doc is shown, and it is a "1 2" code, with 223 interior. The car appears to be very well done, but the gold is not as bright as I'd expect Tiger Gold to be...it looks more like Signet Gold. But still, it shows the 1 as the first digit in the exterior trim code. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-Pontia...kAAOSwi2RfvXrF
