1970 GTO Convertible
Numbers matching 400 WT block with numbers matching Muncie M20 4-Speed transmission
Palladium Silver with Black Top and Black Interior

This is a private party sale, I've owned the car since 1987. The car is fully sorted, it runs and drives like new.

Documentation includes: original window sticker, original build sheet, dealership owners manual folder, Pontiac Historical Services (PHS) documentation, vehicle registration cards from all 3 previous owners, many service receipts going back to 1970.

Meticulous body-off restoration performed between 1994 and 1997. Body and paint was done by Gary Wirth when working at the Highland Auto-Body restoration shop in St. Paul, MN. Gary also assisted in most aspects of the restoration. When completed the car won it's class at the 1997 Land of Lakes Muscle Car Classic in Plymouth, MN.

The car has been carefully resto-modded with the following changes from stock:

The orginal numbers matching WT 400ci block has been stroked to 461ci.
Machine work, balancing and short block assembly was done by Jax Specialty Engines in Hamel MN, Bill Meyer also assisted with the build.
4.25" Forged Eagle crank with forged Eagle H-Beam rods.
72cc unported Edelbrock heads, Crane #99893 valve springs and the heads were machined to accept spring locator cups.
Forged Wiseco pistons with 22cc dish (approx 10.25:1 compression).
SD performace "Stump Puller" Hyd Roller cam 230/236 @ .050.
Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold with separated water crossover.
Modified quadrajet carb with APT adjustment. Carb was built to Cliff Ruggles specs with Cliff's parts.
GM HEI distributor using genuine GM centerplate and weights, triggered by an MSD 6AL ignition box mounted in the left fender well off of the battery tray.
Steel flywheel, 11" Centerforce DF clutch, Mcleod steel bellhousing.
Tribal Tubes Tri-Y headers (the exhaust manifolds shown in some engine pics were replaced with these headers).
Exhaust (all stainless): 3" x-pipe, Ultraflow mufflers, 2.5" from mufflers to 2.5" stainless splitters.

Wheels/Tires:
Front- 15x7 Pontiac Rally II 245-60-15
Rear- 15x8 Pontiac Rally II 275-60-15
The wheels are genuine Pontiac. The rears were widened to 8" using genuine Pontiac 15x7 centers.

Rear Differential:
1970 Pontiac 12 bolt Posi-Traction, 3 series carrier, 3.42 gear, completely rebuilt (new axles, bearings, clutch packs, etc).
With the current 28" rear tires the effective gear ratio is around 3.23.

Adjustable rear upper control arms, Bilstein shocks (painted grey to not stand out) and custom springs

The AC components have been removed with an AC delete box installed on the firewall. All original AC components, brackets and mounting hardware have been retained.

All stock parts replaced as a result of the resto-mods have been retained, no modifications have been made that can't be returned to stock. Original parts retained parts include:

#12 heads
Intake manifold
Q-Jet Carburator
Dual snorkel air cleaner with fresh chrome on the cover
All AC components
Distributor
Chrome valve covers
Oil drippers
Exhaust manifolds
3.75" crank
2.25" exhaust splitters
Misc engine compartment components and hardware
Set of 5 14x7 Rally II wheels with 4 trim rings
Black 4-Speed shifter ball
