Help Identify Transmission Jack
I need help identifying model number for this transmission jack I bought locally for $90. It is a screw drive, non hydraulic so you spin the center disc to move it up or down - max height is 6 feet.. A label on the side says AUSCO but I can’t find any useful info on it or model number on line. It is very heavy duty and operates well. The reason for the inquiry is just for curiosity.

I have been in the transmission business for almost 50 years and I have never seen anything like it.

The little bit I dug around, AUSCO has been around since the 1930s making jacks etc. They almost closed down recently, but the company was bought out by U.S. Jack, and U.S. Jack is continuing to sell AUSCO parts, and new units.
Since they've been around for nearly a century, that explains why the jack is full mechanical, that's just how stuff was engineered years ago. Hydraulics wasn't widely adopted until later years. I have seen full mechanical floor transmission jacks, and they're old, but everything back then was over engineered to last decades, instead of months as current tools are. HF would be a prime example of use it once, then toss it, because it broke the first time you used it. Maybe U.S. Jack could help you out, but if they got rid of all the old drawings, you may not get any help. It looks plenty stout to lift a 4L80E into place, if that's what you're wondering..... |

I think I found it - this was in a link in one of those discussions you posted in over on the Garage Journal forum. https://www.hcrcnow.com/uploads/draw...issionjack.pdf

Thanks, Brad - luckily the 4l80e is in but doing it on my back with a floor trans jack is part of the reason for buying this one - also, it’ll make it easier to pull the third member on the LeMans.
Thanks, Stuart - I just saw that and it definitely looks like it! It’s a really cool jack - glad I bought it.

Jack
That is one nice trans. jack! What is the rated capacity? These are good for dropping fuel tanks also.

Thank you - not sure but it is overbuilt and pretty heavy! I recently dropped the LeMans tank and ended up using my under hoist oil drain pan.
