A complete RA IV engine & tranny with all the right parts running is definitely in the ballpark for this value, the car is free

I agree 100%. Fair price but a mega project. I would expect the worse. Most everything is throw away.
This kind of project spells “divorce” for most.

Gotta agree on that one!

When I told mine I was going to buy an engine, she told me don’t buy that . She’d never said anything like that before, so I said why not? She said I want to buy it for your birthday. 😂

I did say this project spells divorce for “most.”….. I married an Alabama girl. She can be as sweet as sweet tea and can be as mean as a diamondback rattlesnake. I have always had more than one Judge. I have brought home many abandoned project cars over the years that I bought in boxes and restored. I haven’t been questioned one time by my wife on the endless stream of parts or Bodyshop costs needed for my passion and hobby for 69 Judges. The car hobby takes support from the entire family as everyone knows. Back to subject.- The wife asked me if I was going to buy this car. 10 years ago this project would be in my garage. The older, wiser, less energetic me said I will pass on this project.

My wife always knows what I buy, after the deal is done, as long as the bills are paid she is all in!

I used to live in Melbourne and have friends who could go look at the car. However I think it is pretty obvious it is a parts car (drivetrain) or a rebody etc.

I have been racing/restoring/driving Pontiacs for decades. My wife finally asked if she could pick out her own car! LOL I always bought Pontiacs for her to drive either new or used. I have been known to "come home" with a car she had no idea I was buying (not for her but for the "collection"). I always kept my car hobby pretty much funded through car stuff either selling cars or parts. I did use my 401k occasionally to take a loan to buy cars but paid it back within a year. We both had careers and had our own savings/retirement accounts and a joint account that paid all the household stuff.

Now that we are retired and on a fixed income our money is combined so I need to keep her in the "loop" on any car purchases. The biggest obstacle I have is storage and the time to keep everything in tip top shape. I thought when I retired I would have a lot more time to "play" with the cars. However with all my other interests/hobbies I don't seem to have enough time to do everything!

Winning bid $36,000 but it was up to $37,500, $42,250 and $42,500 before going back to $36,000 with different bidders, possibly after the closing.

Never bid on BarnFinds.com and not sure if you can bid and then withdraw moments later??

I just clicked on the original link that post toastie supplied ,
it shows winning bid 42,500 by iluvgm

Expensive , but worth it to the right person today.
The engine and rear axle were probably worth 25k by themselves.
20k more gets you a title and some particulars.

Best wishes to the new owner

Agreed! My wife questioned me about 25 years ago WRT cars, and the time I spend in the garage. My response was " I could have many addictions, Women, drinking, drugs, gambling, etc, why would you complain when you know exactly where I am? Her response was "True!" Never heard another word since.

Good to hear. Was the overall condition better than the pictures made it appear?

Keep us updated on the progress!
