Door and window seals
I bought new door and window seals for my 1970 formy. I went to my body shop and they quoted me a price between $250-$300 to take out the old ones and put the new ones in. Is the price to high, to low or just about right? Or is it pretty easy for me to do it myself even though I have never done this before?? thanks for the input...

Not a bad deal to clean the old seals out and install new ones. Those door seals can be a messy job to do, specially the uppers. If the ones on your car are original they are glued in place and they will come out in pieces, very time consuming to get all of the old rubber and glue out.
Then when the new ones go back in they will need to be glued in place again. a good tip on this. After they are properly installed, roll up the windows, shut the doors and let the car sit like that for as long as you can. Let's the foam get seated to the glass and door. If it were me and I had the $ to pay someone to do them properly, I'd have them do it, specially at the price that shop quoted you. Plus, if the shop screws them up for some reason, they will have to correct the mistake Good luck! Last edited by edvisme; 04-17-2014 at 01:07 AM. |

Window Seals
I just installed a set of new latex window and door frame seals from the parts place. Installation was easy. I elected not to apply and adhesive.

That's a lot of coin you can spend on something else by doing it yourself. Since you haven't done it before, just do it carefully.
