Default Shifter rod help

So I'm gonna put a Muncie in my 69 GTO... easy enough there is already a Saginaw in it. I bought a 65 M-20, an original 68 GTO competition plus shifter, rebuilt it, put it on there OK time for rods right? The rods that came are definitely not the ones that were on that shifter. It needed other parts too so low and behold the parts place sells just the rods. So I put them on and of course they are not bent right, the 3-4 needed a little tweak but the 1-2 I've bent like 6 times. So does anybody have a picture of an assembled Muncie with the rods installed, a set I can borrow, or a set if I need to buy it? What am I doing wrong? Do I just keep bending? I did the same thing to a super T10 a year ago and it went flawlessly.

Not exactly what you're looking for, so I hope I'm not just adding to the confusion. The pictures were pirated off the internet for use when I did my swap., can't remember from where. The first is a 69 with aftermarket rods and arms and the second is a 70 with OEM. I believe you will also need adapters to attach the arms to the Muncie since the early tranny's used studs instead of bolts.

Thank you, the rods look the same as the ones I got. They look to be only 1/4" away in the rear part, the reverse set up is different but I'll worry about that later.

what shifter (mounting) plate did you use?
  • transmission (tail shaft mounting bosses)
  • shifter (upper shifter arm geometry)
  • levers (transmission mounted)
  • shifter rods

These are the variables which you need to take into account.

EDIT:

Also if I recall correctly, when pushed, I was told that the inline tube reproduction shifter rods are all based on 1969 GTO parts - I'd wager they have the levers too.

I have a correct 68 GTO mounting boss, an original shifter handle, the levers and rods I got from the parts place. I put the one two rod back the original position. I almost hit, I think my dumbass bent it the wrong way the first time. So one more tweak and all good. In the kit they give you the clips and bushings, do those bushings go in the shifter? The shifter I have has hard rubber in there and it is in good shape, should I cut that out and put the bushings in? Thank you!

Matt I just saw this thread. You're welcome to come by and look at mine if you want. Could bring your linkage and compare to mine on the car - original M-20 and shifter. Let me know.
