I was at MCACN this year too. I took quite a few pictures of the RAII Birds. Also included a picture of my friends 69 RAIV Firebird unrestored with 21k original miles. I have more detailed pictures of the Birds if interested but they should probably be posted on that thread.
The Verdoro Green on that car looked amazing! I owned a 68 GTO Verdoro Green I bought from the original owner. Verdoro did not look like that back then. Todays paints and clearcoats make the colors "pop" a lot more. The color on that Bird almost looks like it has a gold base to it. Last edited by Mcronk; 01-27-2024 at 11:14 AM. |

With all the talk about the RA II on Bring a Trailer, I thought I would give an update on my RA II (Car #6 on the registry). The body is pretty much done and I hope to have the Rally II's painted soon and the new G70 redline tires mounted. I still have to complete the interior and trunk. It will be on the Red Carpet display at this year's MCACN show. I have a lot of late nights ahead of me!

Looks very nice! Hope you get it all done in time. I heard there will be a special GTO display this year. I went last year but probably not going to make it this year. I still have my car (#20 on the list). Slowly making improvements. The next big step is to install the correct WY block to replace the 1972 block in the car now. I just don't want the car to be "down" for too long. Here are pictures from 2023 POCI Nationals. A storm came up and I moved it under shelter.

What is the earliest date anyone has seen for a 1111941 distributor? I recently acquired a 68 RA convertible 4 speed from original owner and 55,000 documented miles. The car was built first week of November 1967 Baltimore plant. It has its VIN matching XS block (casting is 979250 but no last digit), VIN matching M21, original carb etc. The distributor in it is a 1111941 date code 8 C 7. Obviously it is not original to this car. However it will work for my RA II hardtop invoiced May 31, 1968. Strangely the distributor in that car is the correct one for the RA convertible 4 speed! I guess I am lucky!

That "C" should look like a "G" stamp that was modified. That is how the original was for my RAII Bird.
Can you post pics? |

I don't have a picture yet. Difficult to get a shot with it installed in the car. However it looks exactly like this one (see pic). I need to talk to the original owner to see how this happened. I have heard folks were not happy with the dual port vacuum advance on the 68 distributors. Possibly he went in to the dealership where he bought the car and asked for a distributor without the dual port (advance/retard)and this is what they sold him for his Ram Air engine?
The original owner wanted a hood tach after he ordered the car. So on the original sales invoice they added a hood tach. The dealer installed the taller 67 style hood tach (car was built first week on November). Probably what they had in inventory. Mark |

I have had this picture for a while but recently noticed a few details about it. It appears to be Milt behind the wheel. The car also has pinstriping around the rear window and upper rear quarter panel that may be the break point of a contrasting color on the trunk and around window (similar to other Royal Bobcat cars). There is also a pinstripe running along upper edge of fender to middle of door ending with a Bobcat decal. The 681/2 RAM AIR decal almost appears to be "added" to the photo (cut and paste). Car also has a bumper hitch and plates which would indicate a production vehicle instead of a prototype. Also has a rear power antenna which most racers would have not optioned.
It may have been discussed before but in my quest to learn as much about RA II cars does anyone know the full story and if this car still exists? |

A 68 RA II convertible is listed for the auction. As well as a handful of RA cars.

Rob Lozins Convertible Automatic.
It was on our list real early. He's had it for a long long time. And his RamAir 67 Post Body GTO going there too. Less than 20 of those known also. |

I have attended this acution for over a decade. I will be there about every other day taking pictures/videos and writing up reports on the auction. I post them on several of the Pontiac FB pages. I chatted with Rob a bit on FB. I will be sure to get lots of pictures of the vert and the RA Firebirds. Here is Mattisons RA II GTO that sold a couple of years ago at Kissimmee. I have a lot of detailed pictures of that car.

Will do. I plan on getting coverage of all the interesting Pontiacs. I also have a post coupe 67 HO car. Sold in Ft. Lauderdale Florida and never left the state. Loaded with options, AM-FM, A/C, headrests/reclining seat, reverb, Rally I's, etc. It is also a factory two tone car. You can see a couple of the videos I did at the Mecum auction in Kissimmee last year at this link. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL...feature=shared
