Raised emblem 4-speed shift knob question
Has anyone tried to remove the raised emblem from a 4-speed shift knob and been able to do so without damaging it? I tried heating mine but it didn't seem to loosen. Alternately, is there a fix for the shift knob if the threaded insert just spins in the knob making it impossible to keep the knob from rotating when trying to shift.

I recently recieved a shift knob in a parts deal;
it had the chrome base but the shift pattern portion of the emblem was missing. It looks like the emblem was glued in place. I can see that shift emblems are reproduced, so I'd expect that they are removable. After comparing that aforementioned knob to an automatic one, it looked to me as though the outer rubber is formed over the center portion; I looked at this because I had heard some theorized that the auto knobs could be turned into manual knobs...

There is a lock nut, but it doesn’t work because the threaded metal center section is spinning in the rubber outer.
