Default 1969 Trans Am factory air dam

I was wondering if anybody knows if there is a difference between an original TransAm front lower air dam and a repro. I have what I believe is an original one and was wondering.

Frank.

Yes it is being reproduced, here's a link:

I think you're confusing this with the metal air dam for 400 and A/C cars. This is in additiion to the metal air dam. It bolts to the metal air dam. Only on Trans Am.

The reproduction air dam is an exact copy of the original - dimensionally. The graining may be a little different but it is a very good piece.

I don't know about the one from Classic above. Year One used to have the best.

I had a repro from year one I sold a couple of years ago. It was thin plastic. Shiny and smooth on the back, pebbled finish on front. Maybe 0.060" thick. Flexible plastic.

I was under the impression this was an improvement over the original which was a rubbery plastic? Not sure!

I'll measure mine today but it's definitely thicker than .060". It's rubbery as well.

Hi Frank,
Based on your description, it would appear that yours is original. I will measure the thickness on my original as it is quite thick ie 0.1 inch. Will post later
