Default So my neighbor came in the garage with a 12pk...

After bs'n and 3-4 left...Can you help get a raccoon out of garage rafters?
Its under flooring by soffit somewhere. Couldn't find it.

Sure no prob.

As we'r crawling over all kinds **** piles of hoarding, he said you'll need this.
Handed me his 38 stub nose.
WTH?
Said couldn't do it earlier. Now he tells me!
So I crawled up to within few feet and put one in head. Then another make sure wasn't suffering..
While pulling it out wedged between boards, turns out was a female full term.

I'm so mad he didn't tell me. And didn't have the nads to to it himself.
Now when close my eyes I see is hers looking into mine before the shot.

That sucks. There’s a reason he couldn’t do it and you are experiencing it.

A nasty thing to do to anyone. He put you in a very bad position in a tight spot with a fighting critter with claws and teeth. You could have gotten messed up real bad so good shooting on your part. A much better way would be some irristable bait and a hav-a-heart trap.

I would be hot about it too. I also agree a humane trap is the far better option there. Even before you knew it was a pregnant female. Im not the anti hunter type, but I just dont have it in me to shoot something that Im not going to eat. I dont even really like killing rodents if I can avoid it.

Thanks.

Forgot to mention.
Thought he meant find a dead raccoon.
Only reason I did it cause as we went in, he had put his daughters 7 yr cat out there with man door open cause he quit using litter box.

Took him in my garage last March for same thing. His daughter was crying and asked me to take him so be safe and warm.
Never been out of house, and real people friendly.
Sure enough, had urinary track infection. $69 at vet and couple days later on meds was fine.
Week later he asked if could pay vet bill, and take him back.
Of course I agreed.
Looks like may have take him again.

BTY, his other 1yr old indoor/outdoor cat moved into my garage on his own 3 winters ago.
Doesn't like other cats, but they don't fight either. He's a great bud.

I have a live trap, but doesn't work well. Needs work.
Oh ya, he called his girlfriend to say I killed it.
Set me up knowing if his cat was in danger, id do it.

When he handed you the gun you should have backed out. While I no longer hunt because of health reasons I have no problem with hunters who eat their kill. I don't even kill the poisonous snakes I find in my yard. I relocate them to the woods and swamp land next to my property.

How are your ears feeling? Snubs can be noisy, especially indoors.

Should've shot the neighbor.. sounds like he was more deserving of the bullet IMO. Poor raccoon was just looking for a safe place. I'm sure she could've been ushered out of the garage with a little coaxing.

BTW - I leave cat food out for the possums and raccoons.... and the little 1 eye cat..

If I was your neighbor you could have just handed me the .38, and bought me the beer afterward. I would have shot it if it was coon or a .10 cent cat.

I killed a squirrel in my inlaws attic years ago. They tried traps and covering the area the varmint kept chewing through with hardware cloth. After 3 holes in the eves and a ventpipe coming adrift, I sent the everybody down to my house and I took the trusty 10-22 and went hunting in their attic. I was surprised how quick it happened.....guess the squirrel was curious. I set up a light that shined where I felt the nest was and about a minute later it popped it's head up out of it's fiberglass nest and I drilled it a new ear. In a nest post mortem, there were dead baby squirrels in the nest. Just looking it occurred to me that pink fiberglass and fresh born tiny squirrels is not a good combo. I put it all in a bag.

I'd have probably handed your friend his gun back and said no thanks.

Was one of things happened so fast didn't think about it until afterwards.
Looked sick, wasn't moving, or snarling. Just looking up at me.
Nieb had to cut out soffit from outside after work last nite to get her out.
Asked him where you gona bury her. He said trash can.
I took her and buried in my back yard.

Coons can do a ton of damage inside an attic. All it takes is a loose soffit vent under a roof near a fence & the varmints will make it up into the soffit area & into the attic. Just last month, a previous neighbor in town spent a few of his gubberment/Wuhan checks with me on considerable soffit replacement on his older home. All thanks to raccoons & being an absentee owner/not paying attention to his property.

Dummy me. Another reason should have handed back and left.
Ringing in ears from riding fire trucks outside jump seats for 28 years.
2-3 parades every 4th of July with ear plugs. Still rang for couple days after.
Have to use ear muffins(what granddaughter calls them lol) while mowing, or gets worse by time finished.

Ringing bad today. Worried not going to get any better now.
2nd level is completely floored and insulated. A folding pull down ladder for access.
So ya was loud. Everything went silent on lst shot.
Don't remember hearing 2nd one.

His had them in his house attic 3 times last 7 years.
Climb up down spouts to reach soffit.
Come to think about it, no idea how he got rid of those...

Had one get in my basement, crapped all over the place, freaked out my cats and stood up to me in an aggressive manner. I heard a noise late one night to find it dragging the plastic cat food container up the sidewalk! I nailed him with a broom. I even set up a live trap and managed to capture one of my cats. I did manage to nail him with my BB gun a couple of times...he hasn't returned.

Sounds like the last time and I mean the last time I picked up a rifle I had delivered to my FFL just a couple months back. You guys have heard about the Remington trigger issues I'm sure. I was picking up my newest acquisition, a never fired 1967 Remington 700 ADL. My FFL tells me he has "a newer one" like it and asks if I want to see it. He pulls it out of the case, goes to open the bolt to see if it's loaded and the safety is on. He had the gun pointing at the ceiling and took it off safe and wham, off it went. I am sitting 3' away at rear level when this 30-06 lights off and blows a hole in the ceiling and up through his roof. Man, that was an ear-splitter. I was watching him like a hawk and his fingers were never even near the trigger though.

He sat there in shock so I yanked the rifle out of his hands , removed the bolt and told him don't put it back in until you have a new trigger installed.. They recalled all 2006-2014 Remington 700 rifles for this very reason.

Turns out his kid used it last at the range and it went off when he took it off safe. Thinking he had his finger on trigger, he chambered another round, realized something was wrong and left it loaded on safe. He gave back to his dad (my FFL) and the dufus never checked it out!

I will never do business with the guy again.
