Default YOUR fastest engine swap???????

Talking with my buddy last night we started talking about the fastest engine swap either of us have done. My best from pulling car in to shop and driving it out was 8 hrs. The only help was taking off hood and putting it back on (1969 gto) this was back in the early 90ís when we still did a lot of street racing. The swap included pulling engine changing heads, cam, lifters, oil pump, chain, ect to new shortblock and installing. Keep in mind this was a time period we didnít care about engine being painted nice or any of that it was all about the go. So letís hear your best times.

On my dirt track cars, pulling engine, swap heads, and cam to another shortblock and reinstalling in chassis on raceday about 6 hours. That's with a lift, and a chainfall and some pretty good wrenches working on it with me.

In a sprint car I've seen an engine swapped in under 15 minutes in the pits. but that's with quick disconnects, and a whole lotta people that know exactly what they're doing performing the swap.

Three hours to drop a complete 455 HO in my 80 TA. The old engine was already out and I had two competent friends helping. One guy under the car and one on each side. When we boasted about getting it done in three hours another friend said "that means you do it too often".

Go fast, see Elvis!
