How do you find a build date on these cars?

Body build date is on the data plate. (at least when the plate was stamped).

Post a pic of the cowl tag when you get it.
(easier to decode)

The month is from 1 to 12 with January 1st month and December 12th
The letter after the number(s) will be the week - A is 1st week to D is 4th week. Could have a E for 5th week.

Lots of info on the car on tag but no engine size. The VIN will denote what engine is from factory.

Thanks Johntal that will be a excellent guide . So one car being delivered has a 73 400 which I’m acquiring for a spare , he’ said u remove it it’s yours. I did message him for the data plate on that car. He really wants a engine that would be close to the build date . I guess from what I’ve read over the yrs that it could be several months before the actual assembly date. Castings obviously heads etc weeks apart.
