That's pretty slick Scott. What were you using before?

The points distributor pic 3, post 179. The same one I showed the pics of while I was originally making the change to sequential. Here's another pic I took of it earlier. Didn't post it cause I wasn't real sure if anyone was still following this. It may be mostly for my own documentation at this point.
ETA: It was a real monstrosity size wise by comparison.

Oh ok,

I'm still following as long as I get a notification it's active, which doesn't always happen it seems. I'm always interested in this stuff.

Awesome job Scott! That's similar to what I did with mine. Old unilite housing but I internally bored it out to take an MSD magnetic pickup and ground a "flag" out of the shaft after removing all the weight/spring assembly. With the new motor I ended up just grabbing one of Luhn's cam pickups to use on the new engine.

Yeah, I wanted to keep the polled function, so it was a little more involved. Story of my life... I'd love to have one of the Luhn pieces, but I just can't stomach the price. It was reasonable early on, but at almost $700, it's not happening. One day I'll get a Jeep unit and tinker with it. Looks like that's what they did. Honestly this one is plenty good. After the engine fires it's just an oil pump driver... How's your Haltech install going?

Haven't had a chance to think about the Haltech stuff lately with work, COVID BS, family, life, all getting in the way. I've still got the turbo gear waiting to go onto the daily driver too. One day LOL... Hope you're well mate!

Doing ok. Hope you and yours are well too. Hopefully you'll get some time soon. And I hope you'll document it for us.

Next up, "eyesore elimination project" #2. Gonna try to lay the coils down flat and mount them to tall fabricated aluminum valve covers. In the early planning stages. Hopefully it won't take as long as the cam sync. Gonna have to find a set of valve covers undrilled. I've never liked the look of the coils the way I mounted them. Hopefully it'll turn out well. Will update as progress happens.

Have a look at Motion Raceworks coil mounting brackets. They do a cool one which I'm using for my ign1a's that lay them flat. Or Holley (I think) do one too.

Do they orientate in a way that will line up with our Pontiacs? Part of the goal for me is to be able to use a factory length truck plug wire. Seems a lot of the LS stuff is set up to bolt to their valve covers with the provision to bolt to.

In that case no i doubt you'll get a bracket like MRW or ICT/Holley/etc to fit with a stock lead. Very curious to see how yours turn out though.

Me too. Hopefully they'll turn out well... It'll just be a little tedious probably.

So the rain stopped, and I had a chance to test the new cam sync. Happy to report it worked perfectly, sync'd up every time. And it looks 100 times better, so mission accomplished.
