Well I was trying to.do a number matching build that's why I say that. I beat myself up mentally sometimes for mistakes I made with my car. I honestly didn't know of date codes or 12 but 1 year only rear ends or #12 or #13 heads, distributor, carb. I been gathering parts slow for about 1 year. And still not there. If I can not find d correct 1 I'll run. The 307 change it to 331 posi and be good

I would use the 3.07 Gear Esprit unit you have. If you want 3.31 gears ( which I would NOT do on a highway driver) just buy the gears. You can but a Brand new Eaton type Safe-T-track carrier too if you like and have it put in.
Would not be worth the money to modify the numbers on a open rear, and if you add a posi, and the letter "E" , well thats not on your paperwork.
Go with what ya got, you WILL enjoy it.
