Newbie Here....Found this excellent community searching the web for information on a newly acquired, baltimore built GTO.. PHS was only able to offer up basic information about it. A quick google search led me here and after reading through several older threads I've got most of my sheet decoded with the information posted by John V. and others on this forum.. I was kinda bummed about the lack of info i received from PHS but this place filled in most of the blanks.. THANKS GUYS!

I will post what i've got so far..I do have one or two codes that are unclear and a few that will confirm what was previously posted..

I bought mine for $600.00 back in 1992 - pre internet - which made learning, finding parts and just about everything much harder than it is today.

This site is an excellent source of information and most members will be interested in learning more about you and your car.

Here’s some pictures of my GTO. It’s a driver,not a show car. Heavily raced until the early 70’s. I just acquired it from a guy who had it for 50 Years! He bought it from His brother who owned it before 1972. 389 4spd 3:23 safety track (now has 4:11s) Yorktown blue black interior.

Yes it currently has a 65 WT motor in it but it came with its original 64 78x motor

Here’s my shipping order for my Gto. I have some notes scribbled on the boxes that I was able to decipher with the information on this site. If anyone can add or correct me on this, I would greatly appreciate it!
It’s a February 13th date. Built in Baltimore.
Zone and dealer I was unable to find.

My car was owned by the same family for over 50 years. It hasn’t passed through a bunch of owners so it’s pretty correct. The Gto does have reverse lights which may be the 34 or 35 options I don’t have figured out yet.. Also, I don’t know what wheel covers it would have had.

Like I said this is the information I came up with reading the threads on Kansas City/ Baltimore assembly plants. I’m no expert! If anyone has a correction or something to add please reply!

No, I don't know the dealer who sold it new..Wish i did! the brothers that had the car since 68 were not the original owners..It was located in Northern NJ if that helps..

The previous owner just added the power disc brakes..It was originally drum brakes.

YES! I have the cowl cover.. Those pics were taken when i got it..Like I said..needs work! I'm taking the aftermarket chrome wheels off..I have stock wheels with spinner GTO caps going on tomorrow.

Looks like you have yours pretty well decoded. If you would like a copy of the 3 part series of articles that I published in Smoke Signals that provides the decode of the '64 KC and Baltimore Shipping Order records, PM your email to me and I will forward pdf copies to you. I've continued to revise my decode as info is learned but the article is still 98% accurate.

The Seat Belt Delete option on yours is relatively rare. In those days, macho guys would swear that they were never going to pay for seat belts. When they became standard equipment after December '63, PMD offered the $11 seat belt delete option. Despite the opposition to them, very few buyers actually ordered the delete option. Kind of funny when you think of the mandatory air bags and other safety equipment that we now pay for in new vehicles.

One other item of note that I've seen on others, Pontiac changed the PS V Belt arrangement at mid year. The announcement indicated on or about Feb 15 for the change but I've seen evidence to show that the change occurred a tad earlier.

Your Broadcast Date is Feb 13 and has the late year arrangement. The change allowed PMD to eliminate the PS option only 37 amp alternator with the 2 groove pulley. After the change, they used the 37 amp alt with a single groove pulley with and without the PS option.

As the Shipping Order confirms, your car did not have a full wheel cover option. It got the standard hub caps, "dog dish" style. Consequently it got Yorktown Blue painted wheels and, yes, the 3rd character of the Paint Code on the Shipping Order codes the Wheel Color.

I'd like to confirm a couple of the more obscure options that the Shipping Order has coded on yours.

I've decoded Code 455 to be the 2 speed Wipers (without the Washers). PMD Sales Code 402. This option is not common. More common is Code 452 which coded 2 speed Wipers with Washers, PMD Sales Code 421.

The Washers would have the pushbutton in the center of the wiper knob. I'd like to confirm that yours lacks the pushbutton on the wiper knob and is the 2 speed Wipers.

I've decoded 472 as the Electric Clock, PMD Sales Code 604. Aside from the fact that I always thought the Pontiac Rally Clock looks super cool, I'd like to confirm that yours has the Electric Clock in the right most opening of the dash.

Hi John V.! So glad you chimed in here! First of all,let me say thanks for all your efforts decoding the Kc and Baltimore shipping orders!. I am so thankful for all of your and others efforts in this matter!
Now on to your questions about my GTO.
2 speed wipers and no washers...Correct! I have a 2 spd wipers but no washers..
Clock..Correct! I thought it strange that this car would have a clock and not a tach.. I thought it was not original but Bill (previous owner)says it was in the car since his brother had it in the late 60's..
I put a set of full "spinner" type wheel covers on the car, but in light of this new information,I'll be looking for a set of dog dish caps!

So, the alternator/ps brackets is correct for my car? I thought it might be later parts added on at some point. Glad to hear it has the correct setup..

I have some questions concerning the 4 spd trans and rear axle dates if you can provide some..
