Can someone please enlighten me on the correct orientation for the drain plugs in the trunk? Should the indentation of the plugs be upward or downward? I feel like I've seen it done both ways, but I'd like to know how they came from the factory. Thanks!

The go up looks incorrect but that's the way they came

Indentation up. If you stop and think about it, there will be a low spot under the
carpet/trunk mat when installed the wrong way. Straightedge says assembly line
knew what they were doing.

This was my logic when I installed the plugs in the cabin of the car. There would be a low spot if you install them with the indentation downward. I'd have to assume the factory would have figured the same for the trunk.

Well, I looked at this thread and in trying to remember, I got confused too, so I looked at my old pictures of my 67 floor after I ripped it out...I took pix to document the tab that held the wire from the sending unit (I think the ground wire). This is in regards to the holes at the forward part of the trunk floor..
The holes at each side have inner edges that are flared DOWN. (note these pictures of the outside of the panel...on the ground...it's been removed from car) You can see in the picture that's zoomed out. The center hole was slightly flared UP. It's the picture zoomed in a bit where the tab is.

Pix attached are of an original floor....
So there's one data point for you!

Indentation in the plug is always up, regardless of location.

Well, surprise, surprise, surprise. I've read about this over the years and went on a scavenger hunt at the American Muscle Car boneyard in Vancouver Washington about 14 years ago (ballpark). I've seen both! I'm told the official correct postion (from what I've read) is the hump goes up, but..................... quite a few factory installers did what seemed more obvious and installed them hump down. So, you could have either, though supposedly hump up is correct.
