It is my understanding there is a style difference after 73. I will have to do some research.

70-72 were a flat style - I believe they had an groove in the front face, but cannot recall at this time;
The 1973-1981 were a rounded style trim ring.

Also 2 types after 73.some are more of a polished stainless (most common).and some are more of a brushed style but dont know their application(which car).probably different mfr..
