Default Installing a North Wind intake

Sunny and in the forties looks like a good day to install my new low profile Kauffman intake on my Kauffman HP heads. More photos to follow!

John, I used a torker II intake with a quickfuel 950. I ran a best of 11.4 at Norwalk with a best trap speed of 116.I've got the MR1 block ,505 cubes ,that runs on pump gas.The North Wind intake was port matched to my heads by Kauffman's. The intake has a 310 flow capeability and should work well with my heads.I've attached some photos of the change over ,along with a look into the intake plenum when attached to the heads.

Your photos are nearly useless since they're so small.......

Im asuming that 310 flow was after the port match? If so what did it flow before? How far up the runner & whats your port entrance size?

Exil, yes the 310 flow was after the cnc port match, which added a cost of $75.I believe the standard North Wind in RAIV configuration flows 290.I didn't measure how far in the runners they ground ,but it was at least a couple inches anyhow.

OLDFLM72 and Exil here are some measurements taken with a T2 and a standard $270 North Wind. The North Wind measures 3/4 inch taller than the T2.The T2 appears to be unmolested ,these are the port measurements-1.040 wide and 2.0625 high giving a cross sectional square inch of 2.145.The North Wind port measurements-1.1875 wide and 2.1875 high giving a cross section square inch of 2.598. PLEASE NOTE that these are my measurements and not official data. I never measured my ported North Wind before I installed it.I will have more photos posted(HOPEFULLY at a size that is useful).

Hey Mike,
You get the engine fired up yet?

Are you going to run Chris this year?
Jeff

I haven't buttoned everything up yet.The 65's in the trailer, that's where I installed the intake. As for running Chris,EVERY CHANCE I GET!Hasn't been as much fun the last couple years. He's been beating me up pretty bad. This work and a good torque convertor should get me a little closer to Chris.

Hey Jeff,

I've also got a Northwind going on mine...as well as a vacuum pump......engine should be very close to 700HP......

Would you anticipate any carb tuning changes going from the Torker2 or just try it "as is" while hooking up the meter and checking plugs ??

PM or email me if you prefer.......

BTW, will be checking carb pad height difference of Northwind/Torker2/Factory iron during the swap.....just a FYI for anyone considering the swap that has hood clearance concerns.....

So has anyone measured the plenum depth compared to a Victor?
