I don't understand why the hell GM didn't just use the old Nova 4 cylinder from the get go when they introduced the Vega. That aluminum POS was a major mistake. Pontiac was smart to call the 2.5 the Iron Duke. Looks like she has 79 or later cross flow 2.5 -

Brad that's an S-10 driveline.

You're right on the Alum 4cyl. I suspect It was for weight.

Stacey, looking really good!!!! My sister had an 80 Monza when I was a teen. I loved that car more than she did? I have something for sale you could consider. Look up a 1976 Vega Nomad on the net for pics. I have the fiberglass parts for the door windows and side glass to make it look like a Safari. There were only about 2500 Vega Nomads made. The factory never made one but you could! PM me if you want pics of the parts and more info. Keep up the good work, it's going to look great. David

Thanks guys!! Hopefully I'll be posting interior pics tomorrow. The plan for today is to finish up the dash wiring & put everything back together. There's a lot of little stuff left but I'm hoping it'll make it to Norwalk this year.
David, is the Nomad package the tinted windows? That is pretty cool! My Astre will be a daily driver and I'm not sure what the inspection laws in this pos state will allow. I'll have to ask Jory.

Hey Mike,
I'm surprised you didn't ask about the other car in the last picture I posted...

There's not enough of it visible to be concerned with!

Pass it on to Jory I've been sniffing around an Impala lately. If the deal goes thru he may be offended when I build it.

That second one's been for sale for several years. Makes me wonder if there're hidden problems with it,

Mike

We've(Jory's) been steadily working on the Astre & it's getting closer

I'm happy to report that we had brakes & clutch on the latest test drive. The first time the rear brakes were locked up & no pedal. We also had no clutch pedal. And when we got back the last time we noticed the upper rad hose was just about rubbed through. That is now fixed also.

The car did so good it went out a second time so Daddy could get a ride

I also have tunes now
Jory bought me a stereo & speakers for christmas last year & they're all hooked up now. He was going to cut holes in the rear plastic panels but he felt bad since I painted all the panels so he put them in the tailgate

I know the panels don't look that great from wear but it looks much better than when I got it!!

It's really starting to look like a car again
The original header was pretty bad & it was missing the grilles so we're using the ones off the 76 parts car I bought. And Jory got me some new bright halogens so I can see better since it'll be a daily driver
As you can see the hood is still being worked on. If you remember from before we knew the air cleaner clearance was going to be a problem. Jory made a reversed turbo TA scoop and it's on & looks good so far!
