Default the 305 gave up the ghost

The 305 in my formula crapped the bed. I suspect the oil pump was the guilty party. Am I crazy for buying a remanufactured 305 to keep it going.

Why not?

If the car is still in good shape and you were happy with the way the old 305 ran before it died then a rebuilt one will get you right back where you need to be.

Yeah. That's what I thought. I don't want to be bothered with changing computers or harnesses.

Is it a TBI or TPI?
either way, a 350 is a super easy swap.

I think I would swap in a 350 and change the injectors.
Injector output is the primary difference between the 305 and 350 TPI systems.

FYI; when I helped a friend install a 1991 TPI in his hot rod I found these guys to be great help:
http://www.hotrodlane.cc/

They are very knowledgeable and helpful.
They can re-program the ECM for the 350 swap if you want to do it that way, as can Howell Engineering and TPI Parts.

It's TPI. Does the 305 intake swap to the 350?

I didn't want to search all over for harnesses and computers. I just want to do a simple swap to get it on the road again. I guess finding a low mileage used motor will be impossible. So i may just go for a reman.
