Default How to tell difference in Pontiac and Chevrolet tripower carbs

Is there anyway for a novice to tell the difference between the two. I’m looking at a tripower setup for a stock engine build. I have a pic they sent me. I’ll post it here. It’s a 61-64 setup. I’m not looking for original I’m looking just for tripower. He said they are small carb in middle and big ones on end. I just want to make sure they are Pontiac carbs

x2

The 1966 Pontiac Tri-Power Center Carb does have the front facing inlet but the throttle blade size & base is larger vs the 61-64 Center Tri-Power Carbs.

It is basically a thrown together set of Chevy/GM Carb Parts.

The carbs if lucky would be worth $50 each. The Intake $50.

I can’t believe the people that will lie to you that it’s all Pontiac. It’s like the carter competition I put on my 64 Catalina to find out it’s a clone and my car is running too rich. Now I’m rebuilding the original 3326S with a kit from Jon.

Thank you all for the help.

Hi Jeff,

They not only are not Pontiac, they are also not tripower carbs from Cadillac, Chevrolet, or Oldsmobile.

Looks like three Frankencarbs to me.

Carbs are not worth the shipping charge (even if across town!).

As far as your original question, if you don't know, best to ask. Lots of knowledgeable and friendly folks on this forum that are generally quite helpful when you ask.

This link to my website may help in the future if you find another tripower.

Jon.
I wrote him and told him about not being Pontiac Tripower carburetors. He replied that they are modified to work on Pontiac. Now that Jon has said the are frankencarbs I understand.

I just traded for a tripower manifold #9775088 now I have to find the correct carburetors and linkages.
