Found Out What Caused My Engine To Fail, Guess This $8 Part??
Oh wow, I just got done with a rough year and my new engine (everything's new other than the block) is about to be installed on the car starting today.
I went to pick up the old engine parts and inspected the only thing I thought caused it, I guessed right because I had a feeling my Dad might've cheaped out and never replaced this part after the engine rebuild around 1997. Guess what $8 part caused my engine failure and has me $15k into this new engine? I'll report back and show the picture.

Not many parts cost $8....so my guess is going to be something oil related like galley plugs or oil pump drive shaft?
Good luck with your new build...sometimes these problems are really frustrating but it sounds like you are hanging in there... |

Jesus you guys are good, 1st guess 10 minutes after the post.
LOL It's real easy to hang in there, my 1st car, dad's pride and joy and you throw a bag of cash at it and make it the best yet. But damn, I'd rather not have had to do all this, it opened the can of worms because of the timing, dad's death and the engine being out. $8 turned into a $30k restoration. New tune will have the Holley HP instantly put the car in limp mode at 0psi and I'll shut it down.

Sorry to hear that. I know if it was your Dad's car it has a special value to you. Have you posted any photos of your car/restoration? I would be curious and interested to see. Good luck moving forward.
